Don’t have a dog in this fight but as an aside, I met him at Applebees of all places late after one of his concerts. He was a super nice and engaging person as was his wife/girlfriend who btw was African-American.

You're grossly incorrect in trying to paint my post as a false equivalence. I supplied two sentences without drawing a conclusion. I left it to the reader to do that.

 

While you are probably right that his Black friends don't take it as an insult when he sings it in a rap song, you're wrong about the bolded part above.

This isn't an issue.

Let me rephrase that: It's not an issue with anyone except white people who are upset they're not allowed to say the n-word anymore.

And you can't dispute that. Because if it is not true, the only alternative is that a huge population of grown-ass adults are actually airing a 3rd grade-level grievance of, "If I can't say it, neither can you! NYAAAA!" And we know that the people making this argument can't possibly all have the emotional maturity of a 3rd grader. That is not plausible. So we know it's the former reason. It is perfectly illustrated by the Delroy Lindo clip below.

And that's in addition to the fact that we all now the reason the African American community adopted the word as a term of affection: to take the insult away from racist white people, and drain the power from the word. Even so, it has not drained it completely, because that's impossible for something as heinous as slavery and the post-slave treatment of Blacks in America for generations.

Not sure if this is sarcasm, but it obviously has limited his career immensely. He is a very talented musician and creates great musical hooks, and he will never be played on any mainstream radio station or streaming service because of the sub-human filth of his lyrics.

It shut down his career except for people who are similarly racist and immoral. That's a pretty small audience. With his talents, he could have been a household name.

 

More proof that racism is on its last leg, if not almost dead.
Young white kids saying the N word, is dumb and insensitive to us older white people. But younger white kid who hangs out with black friends probably didn’t give it much thought. Because assimilation has taken both sides in and there’s a chance stokes hasn’t thought about racism in his life.
