if Anthony Richardson is not carrying the ball because of fear of injury and is throwing it away to avoid an interception on his record so that he will look better for the NFL he should be benched or removed from the team post haste

So, you're indicting him with... an assumption? Or do you have something more 'solid' to work with other than "if"?

I don’t think an interception is going to change an NFL teams view of him. They assess a player at the combine and look at a lot of game tape so they understand the context of stats.

I think there he is covering up for the fact that any time he gets touched he gets injured...he was limping during the Vandy game..

Unfortunately some only remember his last pass which wasn't even an attempt at a hail marry. People tend to remember how you finish not the stuff in between.

He threw for 400 yards because A) we were seldom running, B) because of that we got behind along with our D imploding and senseless penalties, C) Vandy was selling out on stopping the run, D) that left wide open spots in the secondary, E) they saw tape and knew AR is very inconsistent, F) last few minutes Vandy was playing prevent.
Passing was the offense, but 400 yards is 400 yards.

Or he could have put up some more points. All those yards mean nothing if you can’t score. The loss doesn’t fall on his shoulders, but we do likely win this game easily with more consistent qb play.

I think that no matter which side of the AR argument you side with, we can mostly agree that it is time to move on.

Or without the special teams blunder.
    Or with better game planning.
    Or with more disciplined play.
Or if the OL didn't have its worst (or 2nd worst) game of the season.
    Or with better mental focus.
Or without the early drops by the WR's.

I am not a huge fan of AR, and I agree it wasn't a crisp game, but he's way down the list of reasons why we lost to Vandy.

An entire thread dedicated to this crap.

The sheer number of posters now repeating this is sad. So sad that the list of insults now includes NFL scouts and evaluators, since this idea requires them to be unbelievably stupid. All they look at is a singular season-encompassing box score. All the prep is done with a quick Google of "passing stats", and AR is tricking them all with these crafty throws. Instead of seeing him throw a 55 yard pass 65 OOB, they'll NEVER KNOW!!

AR is also super savvy in saving himself physically and juicing up stats by staying in pockets too long with 10 300 pound men falling into his knees, not throwing to wide open WR's and easy dump downs, and keeping all the passing stats well below normal NFL prospect thresholds. This is totally buzz-sawing NFL morons.

But not posters here. They are on this like white on rice son. Using advanced tech like "feelings" and "my eyes."

Agree. The team should be able to just show up and beat Vandy. Problem is they didn't show up... neither the team nor the coaches. They looked like zombies out there.

Hate these speculation threads. I hate speculation about what “ a player “ must be thinking” with ZERO confirmation on where/why that it’s been said or thought of.

Reminds me of click-bait articles, where the writer just throws out crap, and drive people to discuss a topic, in a certain way.

Anthony was not Great Saturday, but he did enough things to put us in a position to win.

IF the defense wasn’t dying from self-inflicted wounds, and out ST would just STOP tryin the field kick, we still win, even with ALL of Anthony’s short-comings.

It’s clear that tons of folks are convinced he’s not fully committed. I hope, for his sake, he moves on and we get the next QB to question their motives, intentions & we criticize-crucify what they are not.

I know “ every fan-base is the same ( as I’m constantly reminded here) ” so everyone of them does the same thing when their QB is not meeting fan expectations. We paint the worst possible picture of them, label them , and create the crappiest narratives, to validate some of the things we’re just dying to say.

To be clear, Anthony wasn’t great, but he was good enough to win Saturday. Was he Herculean…..nope. Did he miss some throws…..yep.

He didn’t play defense, commit those drive extending penalties, didn’t muff a kick and give short-field, didn’t fail to call holding penalties on the Vandy, didn’t get thrown out for targeting, didn’t create the offensive or defensive game plan, didn’t coach ST, didn’t continually lose contain on the edge.

Furher, didn’t do was run enough ( based on what I’m reading) to overcome all of that, because he’s thinking about the NFL, isn’t Tim, isn’t tough enough, is a bad decision maker on the read option ( or scared of getting hurt/ hurting his draft status) .

Yep, this loss is on Anthony & the program will be better when he leaves. Shoot, we’d be better right now if Napier just benches him & plays Kitna ( keep hearing that too). I’d love to see it, just to find out if it’s true. BTW, Kitna doesn’t play defense, ST, or coaches either.

This board has always been & will continue to be a funky kind of environment when it comes to the QB position, when folks think the better option is on the bench.

Heck, I wish he read defenses better, threw better slants and crosses, threw to the RB out of the backfield, and was better throwing between the hashes. Those are the things that move the chains and helps with winning.

I’m done, just wanted to get in my share of unreasonably takes , since this thread was out there.
