And he is not likely to throw the QB under the bus.
I would love to see Kitna get a chance against FSU if AR isn't producing in first half.

More than once this season, at the end of a half/game or on fourth down when we desperately need a conversion, we have seen AR chuck it in the stands. It seems he doesn’t want to put up an INT on the stats. Yeah, seems like the worst thing to happen to his development was getting all that preseason Heisman/First-Round hype.

If I called every gator fan I knew at 8 am on Saturday and said ‘AR will throw for 400 yards’

How many would have said ‘hell yeah’???

AR is the same QB as Justin Fields. That’s why he will be a first round pick imo. The Bears are calling designed running plays for Fields.

You are correct. But at the age of 75, I can allot only one year to complain about a Gator football issue. Once the year is nearing the end, change something so I can have a new issue to complain about next year.

Sad but maybe true that AR has checked out. Damn the no-fun-league, agents and money grubbers all. The NIL, transfer portal all fall under the "everyone gets a trophy" thinking. College football is being destroyed by greed and rules that have taken the toughness out of the sport. Bad officiating is also the cause of the games demise. Why not just play flag football?

A big of an aside, but I always got the feeling AR doesn’t enjoy contact. Ymmv

Maybe but what makes it so frustrating is how good he is as a runner. I think I saw only one or two plays this season where the first guy got him. I like it when he avoids contact - I just want him to run more. This game he could have kept the ball and slid every play and we would have a ton more yards.

I agree with everything you said, but explain to me the Jekyll and Hyde we have gotten with AR. NAPIER even said during the half time interview that Richardson could run the ball on almost any play. Yet the guy almost never keeps the ball on the RPO. Either Richardson is blind or he is choosing to play it safe and play selfish football.

The title of this thread made me think, he found out he wasn’t a good qb, LOL. He has the tools, but not the ability to know what receiver is open and when to cut loose and run the ball. If he is holding back for the pros, he will not make it at qb in the Pros. This comes from having the skills to be efficient at his job “every play”. The first half of the Vandy game how many three and outs did we have. In his defense, our team and coaches weren’t ready for a SEC clash and our play calling didn’t help.

Kitna should be ready for the Chainsaw-Tax Slayer-Crypto Bowl or wherever 6-6 goes.

    Convince me.

Justin Fields had a 20-2 record as a starter, got invited to the Heisman ceremony, led his team to the CFP, and threw 67 college touchdowns versus 9 INTs.

Anthony Richardson has 6-7 record as a starter, hasn't won any hardware, has thrown 16 TDs versus 13 INTs.

    How are they the same?

For some reason, our running attack completely fell apart in this game and I don't blame it all on AR. We couldn't get Montrell or Trevor going consistently at all. For the better part of the first half, we were in the negative rushing yards. AR made some great throws in this game but he was obviously not helped by his receivers. Several passes were flat out dropped. We can really use an upgrade at receiver and I think we're getting it next year. Eugene Wilson, Andy Jean and Aiden Mizell seem to be very talented. It may not be AR throwing to them but someone will. We also failed to hold them to field goals on the turnovers which really hurt. If given time, I think Billy will get this going in the right direction. We've got to close on a few more high-level recruits.

You don’t think the Lions scouts would’ve love to see him pull off a spectacular run and win the ball game?

It’s not all the losses. It’s the ones where we should’ve won and AR lost is the game…which is UK and Vandy.

Not qualified to say whether AR can make the reads or not. I do know that when Doug Dickey installed the Wishbone in 1975, he said afterwards that for the first year, the reads, which are similar to zone reads, were called in advance.

It’s my belief that installing a new system, particularly one based on reads, is more difficult than any of us think.

He doesn’t need to and still dominate. Deion Sanders made a career out of not enjoying contact.

I won't go quite that far, but he runs with conviction and then he runs with a sense of...not sure he is doing it right. I saw a runner against USCe that was unsure. IMO, Vandy = Missouri. One was a win (or they lost it more than we did) and the other a loss. No one stepped up. AR should have, if he wants to be The Man. But again, is he unsure?
