QB Marcus Stokes posted on Twitter that his scholarship has been withdrawn after last week’s actions.
No mistake. He was singing along to a song that is played on all media platforms. A song that makes money using said" bad" word. The majority of the team should be dismissed using this standard.
You can say what you want, when you want to unless you are a heterosexual white male. Although, the N word is off limits to all white people - no matter the context or double standard of its use.
I understand what you're saying, but I think we're beyond the point of this being viewed as "okay" if the person singing it is white. I think it's harsh to pull his scholarship. He made a mistake, even if he didn't realize it at the time. He didn't stay in his "lane". Doesn't make him a bad person though.
Moving to TH. Okay, feel free to read this if you're genuinely curious: A public letter to the Associated Press: Listen to the nation and capitalize Black.
Kid was being an idiot and did an idiotic thing. I'm sure he'll learn from it as he plays QB at a different school (which I'm fine with). I'm sure cancel culture will be blamed but good lord, how do people still do this and think everything will be fine???
He was never going to start over Rashada so I’d say both sides are happy it’s not only unfair. It’s SO UNFAIR !
He's a kid and kids are not always as socially keen as adults are. Sure, we know this is something we shouldn't do, but to him as a kid, he may not have thought anything about it.
If you want to get the N word out of the public square it will start with the Black community. There are many white people that use the word in their art. Eminem, Tarantino amongst others. When they use the word it is a badge of honor because they are trying to bring out social awareness. When an 18 year old kid uses it he is disgraced and canceled. Until you know what is in the kids heart you cannot judge him. Getting this disgusting word out of the social square starts with the people most offended by it.
Just to clarify, Eminem I believe has only had the N word in one song and it was supposedly super old. He is on record saying that even though he'd probably get a pass, he doesn't use it. Louis CK says it a lot but we all saw what happened to Kramer. It's all about the context and whether you have a pass or not. Unfortunately if someone close to Stokes gave him a pass, he forgot to get famous before using it, not after.
Meh, this is mostly internet warriors who push the most against white hetero men or just masculinity in general. These people don't dare venture into the real world with their hate, unless they are in large groups. These people are small and insignificant outside of their computer or social media platform. The real world is a place where racism is by and large dead. Is it still around in places? Sure, but not as much as the keyboard warriors believe because they don't see the real world, they just see their woke twitter and tiktok feeds. The people who go into the real world actually get along just fine.
We are about to find out, aren’t we? Why do you think Franklin or any other black male in a position of authority would not accept an apology from Stokes for his immature dumbass adolescent behavior. Hint, they deal with it all the time. I hope Stokes stars for Penn State and Franklin shows us white boys what men of are made of. May not happen, but I would love to see it.
