Pure opinion follows. Winning placates entitled fans. Mac-n-Mul won and it didn't help.

Patience, whether fans like it, believe in it or not, is needed if you don't want to be miserable. The only real down side is fans may be losing money (and that's their fault) and they could miss an opportunity to get in the face of other fans and gloat about a superior Gator standard.

CBN is no CKS..he needds to prove that. He can rebuild whatever he wants but its th decision making on Saturdays that is troubling...that doesnt usually get better.[/QUOTE]

I’m sorry, but your closing statement requires some clarification. Are you saying that coaches do not grow and become better at their craft over time? If so, that is just categorically false. If that isn’t what you’re saying, my apologies, but that’s how it reads.

Some coaches do grow, but it seems a lot get worse. One would think DM for instance would grow as a coach (which includes recruiting), heck there's a whole list who have been fired and have regressed as coaches. Experience seldom equates to growth.

I dont really care about this year per se, since it is a transition year to a new culture, new coaches, and new offensive system. I only hoped throughout the year we would have changed the culture and player mentality enough to finish strong to set the stage for next year and build momentum for recruiting. I knew and was prepared for the fact that this year was likely to be a roller coaster in terms of games won and lost, and was going to be okay with whatever the end result was going to be so long as it wasn't too bad.

Did I want to loose to UK and especially Vandy in the same year? Hell no. But what disappoints me more than the actual loss is I really believed this team had turned a corner against aTm and the Cocks. Look what the Cocks did last night against UT coming off a compete beat down against us the week prior to see how good this team could be. But all that upward momentum was lost yesterday. It's like the team got comfortable and just reverted back to all the bad habits from earlier this year and years past. With the talent we have overall our margin for error is so small and when the Gators make so many critical mistakes (turnovers and penalties) and have a couple of crucial injuries, we just aren't good enough to overcome them, even against a team like Vandy.

Plus bottom line AR is just not that accurate of a passer. And when our running game struggles, AR for whatever reason also decides to not participate in the ground game, and we have to rely on our passing game, this is the result. This game was an exact replay of the UK and USF games earlier this year. We barely beat USF at home playing like we did yesterday and they are terrible, so not surprising that we would lose to Vandy playing like that. Just hoped we were past these types of games at this point in the season, especially how great we looked last 2 weeks. Just praying we can steal one from FSU so we don't limp home at a lackluster 6-6 record.

I still feel like much brighter days are ahead. Go Gators!! :alligator:

No, I disagree. There is no excuse for this loss. You can share previous examples of similar losses, etc…Losing to Uk, I get. Not to Vandy.

Our 3rd string should beat them on an off day.

I always thought that the wins vs A&M and Carolina were fool's gold. If I were a Carolina fan I would be a little pissed and ask where that team has been hiding? They were atrocious against UF.

Its win now baby. Coach makes millions to stand there like Forrest Gump calling runs up the middle despite Vandy selling out on the run. Players aren't "college kids" and that's been incorporated into fans expectations. Players make money, People expect their semi pro college team to compete. We are not competing. To end my first list of gator issues is hiring anyone name Billy. Its a kids name and anyone who doesn't go by Bill is a simp who has been bullied his entire life. Just look at him, how he passed anyone's interview is a mystery.

Agree, and can I ask you what the reason you think we rushed 21 times for 45 yards?

I mean we are dealing with players not doing their jobs here. Yes it is the coaches responsibility to "coach them up" so the play better, but if we are in a rebuild, then we are dealing with players who are probably not doing what they are being taught. You can't just go in on day one and get rid of 50 players, even if that is what needs to happen.

When it is a culture change, even many of the team leaders are only bought in 70-80% and the crappy players are bought in 10%. It's not 100% or 0%, so you try and work with what you have got. Some days are good and some days you just can't get through to them.

These are not excuses as I am not excusing the loss, just explaining it. I still don't think Bama fans have excused Saban for the loss to Louisiana Monroe, so Billy may never live this one down. And that is OK, because you can't please everyone.

This is the dumbest thing anyone has said in the last 24 hours, and that's impressive. I realize this is a troll account, but still.

Yes, in order to rebuild you have to accept losses to teams with second year head coaches, inferior talent at every position and a budget that is 10% of your own when we've had a complete season to coach the team up. It's part of the process.

By this criteria we should expect something similar to Vanderbilt. They lost to UF 42-0 last year during Lea's first year and turned around to beat us by 7 in his second year. In turn UF should expect to be a contender not just for the SEC championship but even the Super Bowl. That's how dumb this line of thinking sounds.

I hear you. To answer your question: no idea why we only rushed 21 times, but overall, we lost due to effort in my opinion.

We can point to X and O’s, but we were inexcusably flat and that’s why we lost. And we’re not talented enough right now to win an 11am conference road game while being flat.

rebuilding cost us Uga and slUT. Losing to vandy was due to playing with our head up our ass. AR led the pack

The analogies to Smart and Saban are just silly. As if every head coach that has a few ugly losses their first year coaching an FBS school will follow that same trajectory. The truth is, most coaches who jump from FCS to FBS fail. So if we're going to use those sorts of analogies, let's be realistic about it. But those analogies are useless.

IMO, the main way you can tell if Napier really has it is in game management and decision making. Player effort is very difficult to read through a TV camera. I believe the effort is still there, but one thing that does jump out to me are the dismissals. It shows Napier wasn't able to get several key players to "buy in" and that's concerning. IIRC, Meyer had 0 consequential transfer outs from his first season. And by consequential, I mean key starters. So, I think you can look at stuff like this to get a feel, but stop it with the Smart/Saban comparisons. Napier has like a 0.4% chance of actually replicating Smart or Saban and I'd say that for any coach who's resume is essentially FCS stock.

You think my analogies are silly and then you make one comparing the transfer portal in 2005 to the transfer portal in 2022?

It’s not about winning and losing in year 1

It’s about improving and showing he has a coaching advantage over others. We haven’t improved and he’s been outcoached every game (the before the half and 2 min drill is lol). Those things aren’t related to years on the job
