It looked to me like our receivers were spread out in the end zone and all of them were covered. On a Hail Mary play, aren’t receivers usually bunched up, with the hope the ball will be thrown into the group and one of our receivers will get it? Do we work on this kind of play in practice?
Not sure why AR threw the ball so far out of the end zone. Give your teammates a chance to make a play.
For all the complaining about CBN needing to hire an OC, this play is an example of it may come down to the person executing the offense.
You are on the right track I think. I dont want to put all the blame on AR because he does some great things, but looking at the previous games he misses wide open receivers, doesn't use the check down, and lacks touch on throws that aren't a teardrop deep ball.
In a prior game the same QB purposely chucked the ball out of bounds on two 4th down plays. See QB IQ and awareness.
Inexplicable - just throw a high arcing pass into the end zone and give your guys a chance. Talk about a poor decision. SMH
that’s the 4th time he’s done that this year and he threw a 4 th down pass earlier where no one could get it. At least throw the 4th down pass where it’s a 50/50 ball. I’m convinced he’s trying to avoid INTs.
I watched that play multiple times, mostly in complete disbelief, but the only thing I can think is *maybe* he thought the play was dead. Giving him the benefit of a doubt, maybe he thought they were trying to figure out the clock thing, and half expected them to blow the whistle and call the game. After all, the clock should have never stopped in the first place.
Back then, I first thiught it as poor awareness. Now with his reluctance to run, I’m thinking he’s purposely trying to prop up his passing stats.
