While I agree with this, allowing guys to do this is a great disservice to the girls and needs to hbe highlighted to discourage its acceptance

As to the gymnastics example I do think it is a worthy discussion. At some point college athletics could move towards recruiting “hot” athletes vs good athletes for the money. But ultimately I think it is an overall good thing that athletes can profit on marketing their likeness, and like it or not attractiveness plays a role.

If she wasn't a very good gymnast she wouldn't be as popular.

feel free to read the Article. Pretty clearly demonizes the gymnast for her clothing, while simultaneously extolling the virtuous Stanford Athlete who “Won’t take pictures in bikini”. Exact quote from the stanford coach was that the gymnast making 2m a year through endorsement with tight or revealing clothes is a “ step back for women’s athletics”. I was merely contrasting that to the story of male cross country runner who finished in 72nd then 1st place as a female is considered an example of “Progress “ for women’s athletics.

And apparently the board isn’t that upset by it. Cast about for something else to be outraged about. Based on your posting history I’m sure you can find something.

Can’t criticize the gymnast for making money off her looks as well as her talent. She isn’t the first and won’t be the last.

I agree, and always have. But on my list of things I care/think about, this stuff is so far down my list. For what I want politicians focusing on, it doesn't even register. Yet we get these threads every week because all the GOP can latch onto is culture war stuff.

Now that I turned off the football game .... let me say that I did read the article. It doesn't demonize her, it quotes some people who disagree with her approach. And Coach Vanderveer is certainly in position to have an opinion about women's sports. Likewise with Haley Jones, the Stanford player. She won't do bikini photos but acknowledges that women are going to be sexualized no matter how they dress.
They are women with opinions, that's all.

As far as the runner, I imagine most stories about her are negative. Who exactly is calling her running 'progress for women's athletics?'

Another thing that strikes me is that womens’ gymnasts is somewhat sexualized with the outfits and the dancing routines. That’s not new and may have something to do with it being more popular than mens’ gymnastics.

The thing I'm most upset about with this story is that podium has spots for the top 6, instead of top 3. That's just communism.

Sounds like a mirror image of the results of the 2018 mid terms. Funny how that happens. Well not funny really. It’s kind of pathetic.

I agree. Medals and Ribbons mean very little in the individual sports. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd should be recognized as achievement. 4th-6th are just participation.

I agree. They spent so much time pointing out the flaws in the Democrat's plans that they never offered one of their own. If only one came forward with any plan, it would have been a red wave.

I would respectfully disagree. My opinion the article was shaming her for allegedly sexualizing her NIL with tight outfits for money, which is why they quoted the Stanford coach who was clearly opposed. By calling it ‘ step backward for woman’s athletics’. Below is an example Of an article showing the empowerment of sexuality for women. Contrary to others posting who say otherwise, I am neither triggered nor outraged…just find it intriguing. All my opinion and not attempting to change anyone’s mind

lets be honest here if this guy was an actual woman he would not even have made the stage. But reality gets tossed for transgenderism and progress that is the real issue.
