Kirby lost to vandy in year 1 with some all time SEC greats on that stacked roster. Calm down trolls.

Better recruiting will certainly make up for inexplicable clock management, play calling, player development, chasing points, and reluctance to use your best offensive weapon to his strengths. Just gotta recruit. And hire some more buddies as analysts. And wear black uniforms, almost forgot about that one.

The ONLY silver lining from this very disturbing loss is if Napier consistently reels in top 5 classes to compensate for his suspect game day coaching and utilization of his players.

I remember a few threads after we post to Oklahoma in the bowl game excusing it as a meaningless game.

There aren't any meaningless games. I can't recall but also think that Vandy team wasn't as bad as this one.

    Its not about losing.

It’s about the offensive scheme, play calling and clock management for CBN on O. Those are traits that should be positive on day 1.

Games are never meaningless tho some may act like it. Hard to find anything positive out of this game. Maybe the punter, not sure.

This sentiment needs to be put to bed for good.
Kirby lost to Vandy in season as a first year coach.
He never had his own keys to the kingdom.
This is BN 5th year as head coach overall.
    Completely different.

Mentioned it before, Saban lost to Louisiana-Monroe in his first year at Bama and he had over 10 years previous experience as a head coach including a National Championship at LSU. While the criticism of Billy Napier is well deserved also keep in mind what the supposed bad South Carolina team that we beat last week is doing to Tennessee.

It was a sloppy performance that left Saban, paid $4 million a year to turn around a traditional power, "embarrassed for all our fans."

"I'm certainly not pleased the way we represented that tradition today," Saban said. "We did all the things in this football game that get you beat regardless of who you play.

"We just did a lot of things today that is not winning football. I think we're all responsible for it. It starts with me. I don't think we had a very good week of preparation."

Saban did lose to them and ended with a string of 4 straight losses before they won their bowl game starting a dynasty that is still winning. All 4 of those losses were close losses, they were in all of them. But notice what Saban says compared to other coaches. He took ownership of the loss. But in this loss, it wasn't bad playcalling that got Bama beat. They had 400 yards in that game but couldn't score points.

Also all this talk about Kirby losing to Vandy in year 1 - it was different. Georgia actually manhandled Vandy - it wasn't even close. But stats are just stats even if your defense allows a couple of 1st downs and you outgain them 420 to 170 yards. Georgia just couldn't extend drives even though they were chewing up yardage. They played great otherwise except for the last drive when on 4th an 1 at Vandy's 40 yard line, instead of handing off to the best 1-2 punch in all of football, Chubb or Michel, they decided to throw. Georgia for some reason chose to throw more than run even though they had a pair of 1500 yard rushers. Vandy got their points off a long return with a 2 yard keeper, another botched play that lead to a short Vandy FG and Vandy actually had just one drive for a TD. Other than that, Georgia dominated the game. We didn't dominate squat in this game. Vandy did the dominating. They played smarter, ran a better game plan, executed that game plan, and watched us trip over ourselves.

The team turned in a typical Mullen-like performance. Thought they could just show up and Vandy would roll over because we just beat ATM and SC. Vandy had other ideas.

We still have some bad habits that will have to be addressed. We have a lot of talent issues that will have to be addressed.
