Either he made terrible reads today and needs to watch a ton of film as to when he needs to pull the ball out of the tailback’s arms and run himself or he is preserving his body for the league. Will be interesting to see if he plays in our bowl game. That will tell it all. What say you?
I say that if I was advising AR, he isn't garenteed a 1st round pick so he needs to put tape together. Which may be why he threw it more today than usual as that is his downside in being drafted high.
In my small humble opinion. After hearing what Billy said at halftime, I’m firmly convinced, more than ever, AR doesn’t run when it’s available because he doesn’t want to. How many times today was he standing there after leaving the ball in the belly of the back with a wide open field in front of him?? Not one carry in the first half, against the vaunted Vandy defense. I suspect his financial advisory team has “advised” him to make business decisions on the field. He/They/Family don’t want him to wreck a knee and be forced to schlep it in college ball for another year or two.
I’m with you he easily could have had 100 yards rushing. One play he got to the LOS and basically threw a backward pass when he had open field to scramble I was actually in disbelief
This was possibly AR's best day throwing the ball. But, it does kinda feel like he's out there to pad his passing resume rather than to ball out to win. IMO, if we were fully using his DUAL threat skills, it would put a lot of pressure on the other team's D.
If that’s true, and I’m not at all sure it is, he needs to be benched ASAP. That’s on Billy. I don’t think that’s the case though. I think AR is incapable of making reads, and Billy calls the “read” in advance. It’s a read in name only.
So to preface my comments 1) I don't really like running QBs, 2) I am not sure that AR is protecting himself or trying to pad stats, but.... if he is not committed to playing right now, he needs to sit. It's not fair to the guys that are giving 100 percent.
I so agree. He could have walked in the end zone several times, but chose not to. He is reading clippings that Detroit or whomever might snag him first round so he's playing for himself rather the team if this is so. Furthermore, BN is not calling qb running plays perhaps knowing this, which likewise hurts the team. Or if he does, AR audibles out of it.
No I don’t. He didn’t play like that today. When he ran, he ran with authority and didn’t slide. Yes he missed a few zone reads but he threw for 400+ and played well enough to win. Muffed punt for a TD, dropped easy walk in TD for Johnson and a half dozen other drops. This game was cursed and we don’t have the team to overcome cursed games. We will soon.
It’s a fair question. There were 8-10 opportunities where he could have pulled it and had nothing but green in front of him. But the 5 dropped passes didn’t help us today either. The attention on him for today’s loss is really misguided. A fumble on the punt, defensive penalties at the absolute WORST times and not containing the edge blew this game.
A lot of people are struggling with this. Sometimes, for whatever reason, things just go against you on a given day. It happened to UGA against Mizzou, but they have the talent to overcome it. Likewise with OSU against Maryland today. Hopefully Napier gets us to the point where we can have off days against overmatched opponents and still find a way to win.

His best day passing? Yards-wise, maybe, and yes there was the one bomb for the TD. But there were also multiple passes where he had zero touch and bounced the ball off his receivers. At the end of the game, his last two passes were terrible. The first should have led his receiver out of bounds to stop the clock, and the second was one of the ugliest passes I've ever seen. It was great as a field goal because it split the uprights and went into the stands. Honestly, I don't see him constantly leading a team down the field. His decision making is questionable. Maybe it could improve, but the NFL team that drafts him in the first round is grossly overreaching and overspending on a kid who needs another year to improve his football IQ and mechanics.
He clearly has checked out. Refuses to run with daylight. He doesn't even celebrate touchdowns with his team. I'll be happy when Rashada takes over. Give me someone who wants to win
What makes you all think AR is holding back? Napier has never said that AR is making the wrong read. Has Napier ever said AR isn't running the right play?
