It is never good before ESN. Momentum and emotion matter. Man I was hoping we were going in on a high.
Can someone explain to me why Napier never installed any plays for a Tebow-style option offense, where the QB runs off-tackle with a RB to pitch to? I can't help but think that with a QB that can run as well as AR can would be difficult to stop if he could decide when to keep it and when to pitch it. And we have really good RB's to pitch it to. Even if it was a called pitch play, having AR run the ball 5-6 steps before pitching would slow down the defenders heading towards the RB. AR is not going to run over defenders like Tebow, but if he doesn't draw a crowd, he can run faster than Tebow could. I would think this would be a high-percentage play on third and short. All of the "option" plays are inside runs or play-action passes. I also noticed that we hardly ever (or never?) run reverses. This makes the defense's life easier--wherever it looks like the play is going, that's where it is going.
Yeah, It did look like that on the read plays, obviously they crash down as soon as it’s handed off, but it kinda looked like nobody was out on the edge a bunch of times, even before the handoff.
AR is not Tim-AR while a gifted athlete and a super kid-he hasn't the passion or drive that Tim did-Tim was fiery-was a leader
He can't make good decisions at times-he could be changing the plays sent in-he gets down on himself mentally-other QBs we had like Tim-learn from their mistakes and are able to move on
Interesting that a moderator labels fact-based individual opinions as "pot-stirrers". So, is it only your opinions that are enlightened and valid? Many posters are not able to sit on their computers all day, many work long hours. If an issue raises concern, how is it relevant how often one posts? Why don't we compare qualifications sometime, since you are quick to tell people that they "don't know what they are talking about." Happy to do in private messaging.
Most of his decision problems involve downfield throwing. Pitching to someone 3-4 yards away seems like it would be easier.
Something is definitely not right with AR. There were a few times when he could have easily extended the play or got a 1st down with his legs but chose to either throw the ball away or go deep 10 yards past the WR.
We can remain hopeful. Ultimately we have no other choice. But none of this looks in any way promisIng Even if this crew brings in the recruits it is not clear they will be able to maximize them. Napier needs a wake up call.
I didn't take the time to clarify - it was more about commenting immediately after the game because I'd pretty just be bitching at that point. I'll have stuff to say but there's no polishing this turd imo.
