Obviously our team is not overly talented this year, but my bigger concern is how our coaching staff has fared against other staffs. Curious to see what people think. Here's my preliminary opinion: Games Where Our Staff Was Clearly Outcoached (regardless of W or L) - Kentucky USF Vandy LSU Games Where our Staff Outcoached the Other - TAMU (although hard to tell give their situation overall and the guys they were missing due to flu) USCe Games Where Talent Differential is too much to truly judge - UGA UT EWU Toss-Up - Utah Hopefully the coaching staff will evolve and improve over time. Until we get more talent, we can't afford to be outcoached.
Every game has had awful play calling and terrible clock management. On offense Billy has been out coached every game.
I dunno. But today & USF should never happen. BN needs to be in the mkt for either an OC or a new job
A competent OC would cover over a multitude of sins. At this point, Billy is to OC is as AR is to QB.
Culture may be something that players and people are attracted to, but it doesn’t negate Xs and Os. Still gotta coach and know football. Billy’s Xs abd Os have been shaky this year.
Billy needs to hire a real OC. And study up on clock management. And learn how to motivate a team that does't feel like playing.
One thing that torques me is when we try to run it out of the end zone and someone gets a blocking penalty to end up giving us the ball inside the 25 yard line. If I was the coach, I would make both players run stadium steps 100 times the next week.
These coaching hires always seem to try and make up for what the previous coach didn’t have, and overlooking other qualities Must be able to recruit, ok check But is not a good gameday coach and playcaller… Ooopss
It might not reached a leave of a full blown climate change, but the weather has been bad all year long. I don't think anything changes net year without a good OC to smooth over Napier's rough spots.
There is no doubt the play calling is “suspect” at best but I often wonder if it’s also tied to certain key offensive players limitations.
Why do we have men in motion on EVERY offensive play? SOS's Gators hardly ever had men in motion. It seems like we spend a lot of useless energy running east and west.
I don't think it takes a genius to run the ball and strongly encourage AR to keep the rpo once in awhile to open things up.
Badly outclassed and outcoached by Vandy. All on CBN- get an OC and an SEC DC. Or he can hit the road. Horrendous playcalling. Clock management that a High School coach could handle better (watched the game with a retired HS coaching legend)…he wrote play calls on a piece of paper better than what i witnessed Embarrassing Vanderbilt! Fix it. CBN supporter. Its ok to be critical ok?
Anyone see the ending of the TCU game? Unbelievable execution to get that field goal off after running it on 3rd and 7 with only 14 seconds on the clock and no TOs. Entire team switched out, kicker got into place and booted the game winner with seconds to spare. Don't know why they ran it on 3rd, but talk about a well coached special teams. Meanwhile, we throw short of the first down with 8 seconds left, get an absolute ridiculously free play thanks to the ref, then throw the ball through the the uprights on the final play. Composure and execution matter in football when the game is on the line.
By this standard, Nick Saban should have been fired in his first season losing to Louisiana-Monroe, and Kirby Smart the same because he lost to Vandy and Ole Miss, the bottom of the east and west respectively.
Is it too much to ask for our coach to shave. I know it has nothing to do with the game but he looks like a homeless man. It's a bad look.
