Can that terrible call be reviewed by the SEC office and reversed? We need Miller in the first half against the f$u if we are going to have a chance. Also, they call targeting against Miller yet don’t even review the target to the head of Shorter on our last drive which would have made a huge difference. Kirby lost to Vandy in year 1 with a much better roster so I’m not concerned. Any coach in year 1 (Saban, Smart) have embarrassing losses. This is ours.
He ear holed the guy. He lowered his head when it wasn't necessary. Agree on Shorter. But UF ran the play too fast for a review.
And no. He didn’t. They are saying right now on SEC Now it was a terrible call. All unbiased analysts. Legal hit they all say. Vicious but legal. Turn on the TV now.
Yeah, targeting. But add this to the 10 other missed/BS calls in the game… during the first or second plays of our last drive there was obvious targeting over the middle. I forget who our receiver was but he was sitting down pointing to helmet. That, of course, would stop the clock and get us 15
Don't care what they say, the rule is crown of the helmet and that is what he did. The rule needs to be changed. Needs to be levels of targeting.
There was plenty of time. It’s literally the replay official’s only job is to buzz the field if he sees anything. Anyone with half a brain saw it. We all said it immediately.
It was reviewed. It was a no call on the field. Then the review it was called and 51 was booted out. My god we are going to miss him setting up the defense.
Targeting, generally defined as leading with the helmet to make forcible above-the-shoulder contact with an opponent, continues to carry with it a 15-yard penalty and the ejection of the flagged player. Players ejected in the second half are required to sit out the first half of the following game. The new rule allows the conference office to request a review from the national coordinator of officials for a second-half targeting foul. If it’s obvious a player was incorrectly penalized for targeting, the player would be cleared to play in the first half of the next game.
I watched it live and NOBODY in the stadium thought it was targeting until they announced they were "reviewing" something. Just a good shoulder-leading hit and Ventrell's helmet happened to touch the RBs.
