It sucks, bc dude is 100% right. The "parents" are supposed to be the mature ones in this situation. Unfortunately, social media makes everyone famous, so why not talk about it over the internet so I can get more followers??

They let him do it in the old locker room and he actually cooked pancakes. They didn’t just make a mess. There are pics with him with a stack of pancakes.

JMO, but what he said was not good for their program, at this time, regardless if he’s right. The timing and considering their current circumstances, his choice of words only hurt them, IMO.

This helped Florida more than he knows.

For sure, I agree with you there. It's already been a terrible year for them, and from the outside this is just another eyesore. But had his team been thriving, and had their record shown that, he would be looked at as a strong culture coach. Fortunately for us, this is just another kinda ugly 'thing' that would seemingly add to their issues

it’s not only social media.. I own a volleyball club for juniors and let me tell you .. it is so bad, every single parent thinks little Suzie is the next coming of Kerri Walsh Jennings!! (Meanwhile she’s 5’3” can’t even tie her own shoes) And when you deal with the Elite athletes it’s magnified by 1,000!

My sympathies. Volleyball parents are some of the most idiotic fans in all of youth sports. Most are incredibly ignorant about the rules and intricacies of the game but will relish in berating a 13 yr old girl who is reffing a game.

I think he was trying to do damage control to mitigate the negative tweets that leaked out from players and families. I'm not sure it hurt them because it did shift the attention on helicopter parents overstepping their bounds and interfering with the program for selfish and personal reasons. I don't think people disagree with his comments at all.

I know what you mean. I intentionally sit away from other parents at my daughters club soccer games.

It’s comical to me when they question coaches with D1 and national team experience. So this doesn’t surprise me when parents lash out at a coach like Cristobal.. I’ve had coaches call me and ask what do you think of so and so … I always tell them come by our court and watch the parents you will know my answer.

He’s right, but as a first year coach, he needs to prove himself first before he can say that.

Looks like UF actually had this branded pancake stuff made in advance for Sampson.

I’d put Soccer parents up there. My oldest plays D1. From when he was 3 I’ve seen it all. Parents are absolutely insane. I’ve seen fights, throwing stuff at players and refs. A lot of disgusting behavior. I could never be on the sidelines. I always had to watch from away because it was annoying.

Every 5 year old is the next Messi according to some of these parents.

Yea starting with Gen X on, our parenting style is ridiculous. Not saying that I participate, just saying many of my friends as parents are way too involved…helicopter parenting, trailblazing, etc. There’s a reason these kids are on anxiety meds.

I agree with the need for some serious damage control and that MC is totally justified in taking a stand against parents going public with that kind of BS. But the entire situation does paint a picture of a program in considerable disarray. IMO, it's a huge red flag when a first year HC finds himself in a public pissing contest with players' parents, and there is no denying that Mario is off to a very shaky start on the field. It's obvious that UF isn't the only program that is looking at a major purge of their roster - due largely to cultural problems inherited from the previous regime. Stay tuned for more low comedy in Coral Gables.

What part of my post makes you think I’d like a room with @Gatorrick22? Me and @wingtee on the other hand could hang out at a bar and scream at the TV together fine.

That’s what’s interesting moving forward. If you paid millions to “sponsor” a kid, you’d want to see that kid play and get exposure so you can get some return on investment.
