Ok, so to be clear y'all had good reason to harsh on the Gators in the first half. It was ugly. But in the spirt of fun, here are some of the sage posts shared during the Nole onslaught. No identities shared, just the funniest of quotes. Basketball is such a great sport because of the up and down nature of momentum. These posts are emblematic of that . . . And here was a prophetic post . . . back to the critique!
It was a nice 2nd half, but my “internal thoughts” were definitely lining up with the above in the 1st half. It’s why I try not to comment on game threads lol. I think if we lost this game it would have been borderline disaster after the FAU loss, like a “will we even make the NIT!?” type disaster. Fortunately we showed up in the 2nd half to turn it around. I don’t think we should get too high off this win, considering FSU is 0-4. The upcoming tournament will be more informative. Lots of work to do to get better on offense and defense.
Yes, fun! Esp. when we defeat a hated rival and one that has won something like seven of the last eight. We can certainly poke fun w/o being outright harsh on people who are just feeling the game. Let's face it . . . the first half was ugly.
I was out & am watching now knowing the outcome & I still almost turned it off in the first half. Nice thread
The first half Gators were unwatchable. I am glad to see Golden make those adjustments and play the guys who will play defense and hit open shots (reputation and athletic ability are not enough. Sit em'). Good win. Now go play a complete game against Xavier.
Well, we have seen our Gators fold time and time again in the moment in years past agter being down big like down. FSU has owned us as well recently AND we are coming off of a lost to FAU. Lol. I said two of those statements out of frustration but also made sure to come back and say positive things as well. In the end, I think it would be much more fun of a thread if you find the positive posts for those same posters and line them up one by one as well if you have time. Now THAT would be awesome
One of my posts up there lol Might have been the a worst first half I’ve ever watched from the Gators, and I didn’t watch the second.. Was shocked when I got the score notification..
I don't fault people for feeling a bit exasperated after that first half given that it came on the heels of the FAU game. Its a bad fsu team and people wanted to see some improvements which didn't happen until the 2nd half. That said, a couple staunch White supporters had no problem criticizing the team much more harshly than they did White's team last year...
I suspect our posting performance mirrored the Gators basketball performance in that they both left a lot to be desired in the first half, but came on strong in the second half.
I believe the FSU players deserve a great deal of thanks for such a monumental collapse so they could serve up a heaping dish of crow. I'm still not if we were that tough or they were that fragile. We've got the rest of November and December to find out. My guess is good and bad play will be spotty.
Fair whether fans just disappear. Most of us in this forum are true fans, who if anything are too wrapped up in the Gators. Losses generate real pain in many of us because many of us really care. That first half was basically unwatchable, and I forced my wife to watch the second half probably only because I’m compulsive about finishing games, not because I thought we were going to win. This is year 1 of a project that takes many years. We should keep that in mind regardless of what happens on the court.
Yup- certainly deserved all the venom in that first half. And ironically, the second half proved that to be the case…. this roster is too good to be playing THAT poorly. I did predict a win at halftime, but I had … even still have … some real concerns. Have? Well, that type of half is a game-ender versus any good team. I really hope this is not a group that needs to be pushed and pulled into spirited efforts. Individually, that wouldn’t seem the makeup. I also HATE player technical fouls… and we have had two in four games. I also think we need to get a few guys more involved in the offense… specifically Reeves and Felder. Last night showed we can have both a low floor and a high ceiling. Gotta lift the former, or it will be a bumpy ride. I love some of the personnel decisions in the second half; I love that Golden used his bench as a motivator (White could never get himself to do this); and I love the tactical changes. I think he is a good one.
The first half exposed we have hard times guarding fast pg’s. The move to full court pressure to start the second half and the players that were on the floor was brilliant. I had predicted the score 75-70 figuring FSU would be jacked to get a win and against the Gators. I didn’t believe at halftime we could come back from the embarrassment, but it seems now we have a coaching staff that can make changes that have a positive effect. This one gives me a good feeling all round, beat the Criminoles and Great adjustments and using the right personnel, Go Gators!
