Lindsey's emotional distress on behalf of the embattled black man is inspirational, in that it inspires me to want to barf.

Look man i hear ya, I'm just saying, Dems should have won this thing already. HW is a joke candidate. What the dem party seems to lean towards in the eyes of voters is so far off base that people would chose HW over it. Thats a messaging fail for dems.

If the Dems appeared even a little bit centrist or moderate they would not struggle against candidates like HW. Again. Messaging.

I GUARANTEE that strategists in the Dem party are self examining.

They took this seat. To give it back to a dud like Walker would be a failure pure and simple.

I could maybe see that argument in some places/states or even nationally if we want to go there. But first, I'm not sure Warnock is far left. Even putting that aside, Georgia hasn't elected a Democratic Governor since 1999. Obama lost Georgia both times. Biden barely beat Trump, but it remains to be seen whether that was a real shift or more about Trump. Maybe we're too quick to act as if Georgia has been some sort of swing state based upon a couple of elections.

Anywhere else in the US, yes, he is a joke candidate.

But being HW "THE" sports legend in GA, he was actually a tough out.

But the fact that he trailed the Republican Governor by 20 points just shows what a HORRIBLE candidate he was/is.

The Dems should be proud they were able to pull off a tie. Republicans should be embarrassed they put up that mess, and then voted for him w/ near 100% of the vote.

The reason HW has performed as well as he did was because the Republicans framed the election as more like a parliamentary election in which voters were urged to vote for the party rather than a typical American election in which the focus is on the candidate. I suspect that a significant percentage of voters who really couldn't stomach HW voted for him anyway to ensure a Republican controlled Senate. Now that control of the Senate is essentially off the board, and although I could be wrong, with the rationale of Republican control no longer applicable I suspect Warnock should win by at least two or three percentage points and possibly more.

All true. I just think people tend to vote their national feelings in local elections these days. It's why county commissioners we mention Trump lol.

But Trump lost there as you mention. Walker is arguably a worse candidate.

That kinda makes my point a bit really.

I think you may be right. Which validates my point. Better messaging by the dems would have saved them this runoff.

more like embarrassing for the voters in Georgia. But I would agree that dems need to find better candidates. Unfortunately, it seems they believe that they have to run a person of color to get the black vote to show up at the polls. the electorate, on both sides, continues to embarrass itself

it is the dems fault that they don't put forward a better candidate to capture more of the indy's though

but are the voters voting for the man r the party? It would seem highly likely that they are voting for the aprty regardless of the credentials of the man

He has his own skeletons, he grifts off of religion like most pastors of large churches. Perhaps I expect too much

Let's look at the statewide results in Georgia this year:
    U.S. Senate
    Warnock (D) - 49.4%
    Walker (R) - 48.5%

    Governor
    Kemp (R) - 53.4%
    Abrams (D) - 45.9%

    SOS
    Raffensperger (R) - 53.2%
    Nguyen (D) - 44.0%

    Lt. Gov
    Jones (R) - 51.4%
    Bailey (D) - 46.4%

    AG
    Carr (R) - 51.9%
    Jordan (D) - 46.6%

Warnock ran 6% ahead of the second-best-performing Democrat statewide in Georgia. You can certainly argue that Herschel Walker is a bad candidate, but let's not forget that Warnock beat an incumbent senator in 2020 by 2%.

Yeah, given how consistently red Georgia is, you can easily make the case that the only reason Warnock is in the Senate and has a good chance to be reelected is that the Republicans have offered some really lousy candidates. First Loeffler and now Walker.

The crowds at Walker rallies are almost exclusively white and old. No amount of messaging is going to reach those people. Warnock is doing well with white college educated people and particularly white women with whom his messaging resonates.
