My daughter is complaining about this having been online for over 8 hours to find only nosebleed tickets left. It is raising concerns everywhere it seems from Congress to various state AG's (probably all those with daughters who couldn't get tickets) about the monopoly it seems that ticketmaster has on this part of the business.
Seems things could have been done better but sometimes online systems get over run due to high usage. I can't imagine a bigger "you broke the internet" event than the start of Ticket sales for the first Taylor Swift concert since 2018. She is kind of a big deal.
Every single woman and girl in the US tried to get tix. Wife, nieces, SIL’s, my boys GFs… they were ALL trying to get tix. Only a few of them scored. Total meltdowns yesterday. Tik tok is hilarious about it. That Taylor Swift has a 100% grip hold on the females on the planet. I hope she doesn’t overthrow the patriarchy.
Yep, my wife tried to get tickets for my daughter in law, including signing on with my password. My son and I were like huh? On the other hand, I seem to recall a similar story with Springsteen tickets when they went on sale earlier this year. It seems that Ticketmaster is double dealing, not just acting as a ticket intermediary but also scalping tickets themselves. Fans livid over Ticketmaster selling $5K Springsteen tickets (nypost.com)
Garth Brooks has seemingly solved the problem to some extent. He has driven the ticket resellers out of the business. How Garth Brooks Holds the Key to Resolving the Ticket Bot / StubHub Dilemma
Why? If I own something(tickets) and want to sell them for more than what I paid for them, why should that be illegal? Either someone will buy them or not. It's no different than anything else of value.
If you're buying tickets with intention to go and you can't and you sell them to someone for a bit more -- no one has an issue with that. Scalping is people wholesale buying items by manipulating systems, artificially increasing the value and reselling them at that price -- thats bullshit.
I like her music...reality is...not everyone can be close enough to see her pimples. Get over it. Signed..happiest Bruce Springsteen fan ever in University of Illinois Assembly Hall earl 80's!
Ticketmaster is a monopoly, that is a bigger issue than “scalpers”, in fact Ticketmaster in recent years has essentially started behaving as a scalper. That’s bs because they also control the market AND as a monopoly there is nowhere else to go. They are playing both sides. I have no issue* with individual “scalpers” in theory (free markets), but that really isn’t what we have here. *in principle if a person wants to sell their own ticket they of course should be able (that’s how markets work), but “sophisticated” scalpers/brokers will resort to scumbag tactics. Back in the day they used to pay bumbs to physically wait in line at the box offices and Ticketmaster locations to buy up all the tickets, eventually it got more sophisticated and they employed bots to buy online from Ticketmaster. I guess at some point Ticketmaster decided to they wanted to own all that space as well instead of just being the primary seller, and with everything digital they have full control even of resales.
thought i heard somewhere that former gator linebacker alex anzalone went to high school with her, not the same class, but at the same time.
Remember waiting in line outside of a record store like Specs for tickets? Hoping like hell the tickets didn’t sell out before you shuffled up to the counter as thousands of people across the country are doing the same exact thing?
