Second, if you read the documents, you would know that they came into the house with both of their hands on the hammer, the police told both men to drop it, then the guy says "umm, nope" wrestles it away quickly by bending Pelosi's arm back and immediately hit him with the hammer. They didn't have a long conversation. They were aware that there was danger based on the existence of the weapon.
