It’s quite befuddling really for a dude to go from being a 4-D starter to 4th on the depth chart.

Same guys, although Cox and Dexter have mainly been important for US specifically, not so much when the rest are added.

MJ deserves a nod somewhere. ETN as a freshman. After that, we are really stretching.

Star rankings definitely define talent to an extent. Being ranked a 4 or 5 star increases the chances significantly that that player will be a productive P5 player. Being a 5 star increases the chances that they will be one early. But just as in life, nothing is guaranteed. There are misses. Mullen did a very poor job of evaluating talent and mostly went for the easier recruits because he hated the recruiting process. The transfers he brought in raised our star ratings without adding much to team talent.

The key word is continue. Some teams like the Gators have lost more players going
You have to factor in the coaching situation in the past and the results of last season. Next season Napier could be on the bubble if there is not a vast improvement in the product. If things really stink next year, look for more players to leave and fewer wanting to come into a bad situation. My hope is that Coach Napier has a more consistent offense and a defense that play a decent Zone pass defense, a good man coverage, and reverse the current 3rd down issues. If he does that players will stay and the good ones will come in via the portal and the signee class.

I fear that you are correct. If that is correct, Napier will have to have a decent (not great) season next year to reverse the tide.

Well, with all of the transfers and dismissals...thought I'd update the math:

    Current Roster - Scholly #: 78 (as of 11/17/22)
    Less: "current Seniors" 4
Plus: Incoming Class. 30 (according to recent GC article)
    Total Projected on Scholly 104

This means we'll have another 19 move on, for one reason or another, before next Fall.

According to an article in another thread, the hard cap of 85 must be maintained at all times for the next 2 yrs because the 25 per yr has been waived. So enough turnover needs to happen to all the EE's to come in in January and still be at 85.

NCAA eliminates 25-man signing limit for next two seasons

Thanks. I can’t count, but believe that 19 number is without any room for portal transfers. Assuming there’s any accuracy to that last statement, and assuming we’ll want to take at least 6 portal transfers (stay tuned and you’ll see how 6 works real well for my ciphering here) that’d make 25 current players that will need to move on. 25, in addition to being the kind of number I can understand, that works for me, also sounds like a lot to me, but then, once again, I ain’t too good with numbers. I am pretty good with panic however, and based upon the oh my, the sky is falling reaction to our last 4 “move ons” everybody might wanna buckle up and return their trays to the upright and locked position.

In the recruiting forum, they are predicting between 11-17 early enrollees.

My total guess would be 27-28 high school signees and 4-6 portal kids. I think those numbers could move a little dependent upon a variety of factors. At QB, if AR returns no need for a portal qb....or does Rashada already mean no portal QB? Landing a Mark Fletcher would seem to eliminate a portal rb....etc etc

Do signees who haven't enrolled count? If not, then it shouldn't be a worry, since there is plenty of time to get things worked out.

good question. I don't know. I think the clock starts once they begin registering for classes. The thing is they will be trickling in all summer.

    Using the numbers provided above.
    78-4 seniors. 74
    74 + (15)est EE's =89

    89 + 5(TP) =94 If the 5 portal guys come in Jan.

9 players will need to transfer out by Jan enrollment

If true, 19 would be a net number. could be as many as 25 leaving with 6 incoming.

HAS to happen. The current talent we have is nowhere close to UGA's.

UGA is the competition and litmus test. Whole world knows it.

yes, correct, 19 is the net. If we only take 25, then 14 players won't be back...so on and so forth.

I think that math is right, but I don't think it plays out that way. Under your scenario, around 10 more have to transfer before Fall. I could be wrong of course, but I see nearly all of the 19 I posted about leaving prior to Jan enrollment. I think CBN has a clear plan on who does not have a realistic role with us.

I think it is all fluid. BN' s immediate focus is getting enough to transfer to open spots for the EE's Then to have spots for Summer A, B and fall camp as guys show up or move on.

I think some might hang on until after spring camp before transferring in the second window.
It's the 85 number that is the hard cap every day.
