Due respect while I tend to agree with you on issues like this, your characterization is a gross oversimplification of the reality. The pandemic started before Biden, and the massive spending started before Biden. We were in unchartered territory so how much to spend wasn’t exactly obvious. Plus to spend too little could have left us in a severe recession. I’m not saying Biden bears no responsibility, he certainly does, and he bought into a go big or go home narrative and we are left with this as a result. But if he had ratcheted it down some, there would still be inflation, perhaps 2% or so less, and a slower economy. You can’t ignore supply issues and subsequent impacts of the Ukraine war.

Things like the infrastructure bill and inflation reduction act had a lot of good stuff in them, and for the most part seemed like responsible investment spending. The infl reduction act was much better than the massive and unbalanced BBB bill.

The debt forgiveness was awful and I’ll agree with you there, but I’m hopeful the judiciary upholds recent decision and throws it out

We are mostly in agreement here. I will never forgive Trump for his covid handling and subsequent stimulus. He should have fired Fauci, not listened to him. The first stimulus, which given the shutdown was necessary, was far to broad. Between the direct payments and the $600/week unemployment supplement it was an incentive for anyone making less than $25/hour to not work. The second and third stimulus while not totally unnecessary where again way too broad.

As for the rest of the world, their stupidity is no cover for us. It’s like our mom’s used to say; “If Johnny jumped off a Cliff, would you do it too.

The other spending, while it does some good things, also does a lot of bad too. Given that we don’t really have the money to spend on any of it makes it bad legislation to me.

Our government has now borrowed $200K in the name of each and every taxpayer, with unfunded liabilities at least doubling that. Given this situation with debt, the spending has virtually guaranteed us years of economic struggles heavily concentrated on the lower income (basic needs) and the young adults getting started in their careers (housing).

The founding fathers also created the Senate to represent the State. And the house to represent the people. Yet we decided to pervert that as well.

Sorry but when you see those jokers gather on tv to trumpet some sort of bipartisan legislation, bend over and grab your ankles. At this point gridlock forever is a good thing.

Apparently, Gym Jordan is having a press conference today to announce all the various investigations into Hunter Biden.

    Let the clown show begin.

No, the parochial nature of the House refers to their district centric philosophy.

Again, the Senate can change their rules anytime they wish to although obviously there are dangers to that.

In the face of Americans just having proved by their votes that they're sick of punitive, "gotcha" government, McCarthy, Jordan, and DeSantis will likely drive the Republican Party completely into the ground.

Just a reminder, a little bit of history. In 1948 Harry Truman was reelected running against a "do nothing Congress", a Congress that actually probably did more that Kevin McCarthy's clown show will do over the next two years. Not only was Truman reelected, the Democrats regained the majorities that they lost in both the House and Senate in the 1946 wave election. As was the case of the overturning of Roe v. Wade, be careful what you wish for.

I don’t get the vilification of Fauci, but that’s another subject.

When things get bad, that is the time you should run deficits. I will agree with you this time we way over did it, but some “stimulus” was necessary. As the the total debt, a big part of that is our history of running needless deficits during times of prosperity. Trump and Bush were particularly guilty of that.

Actually the attempt to put clowns in charge led by the high profile clown with the preference for orange makeup failed. I will concede that clowns will be in charge of the House of Representatives come January with Kevin "I bow down to Donald of Mar-a-Lago" allowing Marjorie Taylor "Jewish space lasers" Greene, Matt "I prefer my girls young" Gaetz and Jim Jordan to actually run the clown show. Fortunately, it hasn't been and will not be the case in the Senate considering that Blake Masters, Adam Laxalt and Dr. Oz have all gone down to defeat and the same will likely happen to the ultimate clown, Herschel Walker following the Georgia runoff. Once the clowns take control of the House it will indeed become a circus.

I actually live in Virginia and it looks like last year's election in Virginia may have been a one off. The Republicans tried to flip three Democratic House seats in the recent midterm and were successful with only one. Virginia has off off year elections and my guess is that the Virginia House of Delegates in which the Republicans were able to gain a one seat majority last year will flip back to a Democratic majority next year. I would also add that while Florida has become very Red, DeSantis through his extreme gerrymandering made the state even Redder in terms representation that it should have been based on the proportion of vote.
