    One reality hasn’t!
Fact check: 20 false and misleading claims Trump made in his announcement speech | CNN Politics

    T
he lies and narcissistic self-aggrandizement continue unabated! That leopard’s spots ain’t ever going to change. What I’d like to know is: do his supporters think CNN made up every one of those lies in order to have fodder against Trump? Surely not. If not, how can one support such a man for President of this country?

Though I’d like an answer from a supporter, I won’t hold my breath.

I realize this is off topic, but this thread, rather than a new one, seemed the place for my rant.

No. But I do suspect the people who vote Trump as an anti leftist vote more than a pro Trump one may see it as damaging the cause.

Its not gonna matter. Pence wont win. But it cost him. People were hunting him down.

I told my wife last night that Trumps claim that he could "stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody" seems to be true for the hardest of MAGA folks.

I do not understand how this happened.

It does make you wonder about some people’s values, doesn’t it? Most would defend themselves with the ludicrous retort that he’s better than Biden.

Yeah that was me. I can't help but see the double standard when it comes to the ad hominem attacks and such extreme takes. It wasn't a support of Pence as much as a condemnation for the double standard a majority have when it comes to people's political pasts.

That's generally true, but we're talking about now. Has Trump changed? Has Pence changed merely by belatedly criticizing Trump? I mean, Pence was conspicuously obsequious up until just two years ago.

Frankly, I think Pence is fundamentally an ass kisser whose values change depending upon what he's seeking.

I don't disagree I just don't think the author of the thread nor Pence himself is deserving of the vitriol and hyperbole in this thread. Again, the same can be said about biden and a number of any other political figure from either party. Trump is a dirtbag and bad for the country and he needs to go away so his former vice president distances himself from him and it's still not enough. It's not like Pence was lockstep with Trump during all of his petty and significant transgressions. The guy is milquetoast and has been. That's all.

And they both may have been motivated by political considerations, or both may have been as sincere as a politician can be.

The difference is, Biden's issues were what? 30 years ago? Pence's were, relatively speaking, last week.

I bear him no ill will. I think Americans owe him immense gratitude for being stout in the face of his boss's bullying at the end. He should read the room, though, (unlike Trump, who is illiterate in that regard) and move on. Just my opinion.

They're all cowards who hid in their rooms and kept the blanket over the heads while Trump was ransacking and destroying the house, then now they feel bold enough to speak out once the coast is clear. The fact that folks are actually cheering on this blatant display of cowardice just shows you that the bar for Republican politicians resides deep in the pits of hell.

I'll never forget that coward Pence happily and giddily following Trump's orders and flying to Indianapolis on Air Force One to attend an NFL game (a stunt that cost taxpayers $250K), sit down for 5 minutes and then stand up and walk out of the stadium and hop back on the plane after the national anthem, as a "screw you" to players who were kneeling. I bet you he felt real proud of himself and very smug that he followed Trump's orders. Now look at him, acting like he wasn't carrying scumbag Trump's water for all these years. These guys are all chickenshit cowards.

I'm an actions guy, not a words guy. Couldn't tell you the last time I listened to any politician give any kind of speech. No interest in what they say, only what they actually do or don't do.

He literally tells you what he did in the interview. It isnt a speach. He was asked hard questions and answered them.

It can be true that Pence acted with integrity and honor under grave and outrageously dangerous conditions while doing his sworn duty, AND it can be true that he remained cowardly silent after the fact in order to keep being “a team player” and hope Trump “liked” him again.

I certainly admired his courage on January 6 to execute his sworn responsibilities.

I also found him weak and insecure in not PUBLICLY condemning the actions of Trump, in particular, after January 6.

The two points are not mutually exclusive.

I totally disagree. Nobody KNEW how Trump would govern once in office. Sure, we knew he wondered to get elected, how he acted while in office was the big mystery. He was a democrat before, and the hope of many was that he would “drain the swamp” the swamp in positive way, changing corrupt and tired culture of non-performance of our Congressmen and Government contractors.

I know that while I didn’t vote for Trump in 2016, and instead held my nose and voted for Hilary, I wasn’t unhappy with his win.

Of course, with each year we found out that Trump was exactly the worst version if who we feared he’d be. But I don’t think anyone had a firm grasp of how he’d govern in 2016.
