Sometimes it's as simple as a guy not getting on the field and instead of working harder he gets a 'tude.

Eh, the most disappointing thing to me is that it was reported a while back that he was late to meetings and had other discipline issues. Just really disappointing to hear after he persevered to qualify after not making it initially.

On another note I don't like how fast time seems to fly these days. It doesn't seem that long ago that the news broke of him failing to qualify and it felt like an eternity waiting to see if he would make it on campus. Now here we are...

Wish him the best, for sure. Florida Gator Football ain't for everyone under Billy Napier. And that is good, very good.

I thought I read it changed to anytime once they got rid of the 25 limit for the next two years.

As a counterbalance to curb oversigning, the NCAA hardened the 85-man scholarship cap. Previously, teams had to be at 85 scholarships by the opening of fall camp. With the new rules, teams will not be allowed to go above 85 players at any one time

NCAA eliminates 25-man signing limit for next two seasons

Coach said Diwun needed to focus on academics in his presser today.

Just means what we thought 2 line backers in the portal as we have no depth at all next year after losing Miller and Burney. One of those linebackers will have to be a plug and play guy. Need a guy that steps in field day one to go with Shemar with Scooby, Wingo ( if he stays) and our other portal guy providing depth.

Yep. I don’t always click on links here but with this news I did. The first post in this thread mentioning his dismissal contained a link to an article where Billy was quoted, ““Diwun is focusing on academics right now,” he said. “It’s really important that he has additional time for academics. That’s all I’ll say about that.”

I’m pretty sure academics is why he went juco to begin with. That’s the story to me.

I appreciate the hard work he put in to become a Gator. It’s an elite group. I will continue to root for the guy

I guess the moral to the story is that not many people have what it takes to become a Gator, and, even less have everything that's needed to stay a Gator. I would still have no problem calling him a Gator for life just for the perseverance he showed in getting here. It was no small task for him.
