Nice deflection Dyno. Do you feel the same about Biden's anti segregation pro incarceration beliefs? ... Or do you assume realities may have changed him?
What I love is the attempts to paint moderate conservatives as MAGA. Especially when those attempts come from people who cant list the conservative things they can support. Many have the list to show we are moderate conservatove and far from MAGA. These guys accusing however, often have no such list to show even an inch of being moderate themselves. Again. You are all blue to them or you are MAGA. They lose any credibility and show themselves.
On Jan 6th he did the bare minimum of what was expected of him. The bare minimum and as someone pointed out he looked for ways NOT to do that
I was going to chime in with a few I support, but then realize I can't. I can think of things they used to claim to be for. But now, it just seems angrily against stuff.
He did everything expected of him. Including refuse his own safety to make sure the election was certified. In direct contradiction to SS request. Even Pelosi knows what Pence did that day was quite brave. Protestors chanting for his death were within 40ft. He was ordered to get into his motorcade and refused.
He did that because he didn’t want to be captured by Trumps loyalists in the SS. He was motivated by fear and self preservation.
Pence faithfully executed his Constitutional duties on Jan 6, and kept the US a functioning democracy rather than falling into fascism. For that, I'm grateful. But with Pence's statements now, why wait months? To take advantage of the fact his book is now coming out and he's testing the Presidential run waters? Too little too late in my opinion. Trump left Pence in no-man's land after Jan 6. The MAGA portion of Rs will never forgive Pence. The never-Trumpers will never forget Pence licked Trump's boots for 4 years. The time to speak up was during the Second Impeachment hearing. Had Pence spoken up about the fear Trump put into him and his family, and for that, Trump deserved to never be able to hold office ever again, that would have been courageous. Might have swayed a few more R votes to convict as well. But Pence stayed silent. The reality is too many R politicians want to sit on the fence and keep both the MAGAs and never-Trumpers happy. But the recent elections have shown this is mostly a losing strategy. Never-Trumpers can't win primaries, and MAGA candidates lose in the general elections. And now, the Rs have a Trump problem, who remember, doesn't care for anything but himself. Stranger things have happened, but I see no pathway for Pence to be POTUS in 2024. What he should do is campaign strongly against Trump to get anyone other than Trump to win the primary. Trump losing the primary is the only to finally be rid of him, and making this happen could earn Pence a Cabinet position.
I'm not the only one deflecting, if you're bringing Biden into the conversation. I wasn't sure what you meant, exactly, about Biden's racial issues. If you want to spell it out, I'd be happy to comment.
My assumption is that he didn’t know what he was getting into exactly. Heck, when Trump was elected even I said “Well, maybe he’ll elevate himself into the job”. He didn’t. So I’m not blaming Pence for joining the team. However, the only thing Pence did the entire time that was honorable was his role on Jan 6th. Everything else was tolerating hate and criminal activity because “ya know, judges”. F Pence. He was a coward, just not a criminal.
Can't consider anyone a moderate conservative if they voted for Trump or play apologist for his platform and his voters unless they go the Adam Kinzinger route. Consequences for actions. Pubs party started the mess, now they have to clean it up. RE Pence: Good for him, but it's too little too late. This is most likely to sell his book.
In other words, he didn't publicly call out Trump, as I said. No, there weren't. Impeachment is a political process spelled out by the Constitution. Many Republicans defaulted to "constitutional questions" because they were too cowardly to impeach Trump and also unwilling to say he did nothing wrong.
You know who is honorable: Adam Kinzinger Liz Chaney Mitt Romney And about 10 or so other Republicans, none named Pence.
Tilly is a man of great patience. I don’t know why any conservatives would care what y’all think about the gop, Trump or Desantis. Hardly a moderate dem in here. Gatorade is the best y’all got and he’s too polite and humble to set y’all straight.
I don’t dislike Pence, and I recognize that his hands were tied as VP. But I would note two things. First, while his hands were tied, he conspicuously fawned over Trump. If you think your boss is all the things you now say he was, you don’t fawn. You remain in the background with a neutral face. If your boss expects farming and you have any dignity and self respect, you resign. Worse, and second, he’s waited two years to really say what we’ve all known all along. He should have been vigorously outspoken immediately after January 6. It might have made a real difference then. Now, he’s just preaching to the choir. I wonder if it has anything to do with his presidential aspirations.
I wasnt the one that brought Biden into the thread. His racial issues were mentioned earlier to point out that people change. Sometimes from really bad spots. I dont think Biden is a racist at all, but his early career was full of things that libs would skewer pubs for today irt race. I'm saying people have wake up calls and they change. Biden did. Pence did.
I challenge you to listen to the content then. What he is saying is damning to Trump and comes at a cost for him.
Why? You really figure many who supported the insurrection and Trump's actions that day were going to vote for him?
