Didn't see a thread about this: While the orange one is throwing rallies about running, his VP is being a real conservative and acting with honor. I know many here (from both sides) will rip him because "go team"... But Pence unloaded on the former POTUS. I think every conservative and moderate should be forced to watch this interview on repeat for 24 hours... for a cleansing. In the interview he called Trump "reckless" and "part of the problem". Called into question his pandering to people of faith. Said the potus tweets on 1/6 put his family "in danger". He showed a class and graceful tone that is missing from republican politics. Giving thoughtful calm answers throughout. He answered tough questions and spoke frankly. He may have won my primary vote, even though we all know DeSantis may be the only guy to take down Trump. So I will be torn. My first goal is to oust Trump. But the Pence of this interview (at least) is a presidential as conservatives have seen in years. Excerpts: “I mean, the president’s words were reckless and his actions were reckless,” Pence told Muir in an excerpt of the interview released Sunday. He added, “The president’s words that day at the rally endangered me and my family and everyone at the Capitol building,” When Trump called out Pence's courage on Twitter: "I turned to my daughter, who was standing nearby, and I said, 'It doesn’t take courage to break the law. It takes courage to uphold the law.'" Pence has also said he’s “proud” of what he did on Jan. 6 and has declared there’s “almost no idea more un-American than the notion that any one person could choose the American president.” Pence blasts Trump's 'reckless' statements on Jan. 6: They 'endangered me and my family'
If surmounting this extraordinarily low bar is what it means to be a "real conservative" and act with "honor" in your world, whoa nelly. Pence is going to run for President against Trump. Calling him out now is too little, too late. It's pure political convenience.
Courage, honor? lol. He enabled this nonsense for 4 years. If had any courage or honor he would have invoked the 25th when he had the chance.
Did he state those opinions so clearly 21 months ago? But I do agree a graceful, calm, measured approach is refreshing.
Pence is a Republican so really only Republicans can express how they feel about him. He has to win the Primaries first to even get to the national level. But as an NPA it seems to me that he has little sway with Republicans, Democrats or Independents.
He’s basically saying what every person that isn’t a Republican hack or cultist has been saying since 2015, and even some of Trumps sniveling valueless “supporters” were saying before he emasculated them (Rubio, Cruz, Graham, etc). I applaud Pence for doing what was right and obvious on 1/6, he did the right thing even with intense (if deranged) pressure to do the wrong thing, but “not committing treason” isn’t much of a bar for anyone that isn’t deep down the rabbit hole of crazed right wing politics.
At the moment yes. But if he comes across like he does in that interview, he could make an impact. Regardless, his persona and grace is missing from our side these day. Kudos to him for saying it out loud.
Like i said. "yay team". Calling out Trump isnt exactly a top strategy among conservatives. He's doing whats right today. Putting dents in the Trump machine.
Team GOP just can’t bring themselves to call out Trump for his seditious conspiracy to stay in power. Even the ones who were targets because of it. It’s pathetic behavior nothing Pence has said or done since is meritorious I bet his God is not impressed
Your post literally says: 1. No one will call out Trump. 2. Pence gets no credit for actually calling out Trump in a bold fashion. "Yay team"
