So what would you give the people who are willing to fight the world’s most menacing threat to the peace at the moment?
Nothing, Tj's posts make it clear that Tj believes that Democrats, Progressives and Liberals, in the USA, are the greatest existant threat to Human Civilization. Putin, was, after all, chummy with the Trump and everyone knows Trump is sancrocanct in all things, especially when it comes to totalitarian regimes that invade it's neighbor.

Maybe too nuanced for the Cowboys vs. Injuns crowd . “I wonder if the “Evil Dictators versus Virtuous Liberal Democracies” framework I’ve been taught by teachers, pundits and politicians is the most accurate lens through which to view world events?” Thoughts That Should Probably Occur More Often
I'm not sure if Trump has said what he would have tried to do, if anything, about Russia's invasion. The suggestion seems to be that Putin just wouldn't have done it if Trump was in office? But why? Many have justified the invasion by saying Putin had been backed into a corner by NATO and the U.S., but then many Trump supporters have also argued that Trump was tougher on Russia than anybody. I think Trump said something to that effect as well. So I don't see how to conclude anything other than Trump would have just sat by while Russia took Ukraine. His own Peter Navarro had stated during e buildup that Ukraine wasn't a real country anyway. That's a pretty serious take and hard to imagine Navarro would have said that unless Trump agreed with it. MTG said Ukraine wouldn't get another penny if the Republicans took the House. It will be interesting to see how many members of Congress share that view.

Criticism of Trump for some his actions that worked in the favor of despots (and against our allies) is fair and, arguably, contributed to the current situation. Willfully ignoring Biden’s actions that worked in favor of some the same despots (and some new ones) is just silly, though. You will never hear it out loud, but I’ll bet there are a couple of plays he wishes he could have back at this moment.
you would prefer to let Putin have Ukraine, wouldn't you? Obviously, you believe that appeasement works, when history has shown that it never does.
While this is undoubtedly correct, in terms of real life "agency" I put Bidens positivity rating at 95% to Trumps 5% regarding the USA's response to this "action". Your post (to me) suggests your criticism of Biden is he did not ("go hard enough") in support of Ukraine. While I do not pretend to be a mind reader, Trump, based on his actions from 2016-2020 (dismantling/defunding NATO comments) and of course his statements acknowledging his friend Putins actions as "genius" regarding the invasion, suggests Mr. Trump would have been cold comfort, if any, to president Zelenski, Ukraine or it's inhabitants upon invasion. Just my opinion of course.
My historical understanding of the region is admittedly limited. But my understanding is that the U.S. recognized Ukraine in 1991, that Russia signed off on the Budapest Memorandum in 1994, and that Ukraine - as well as Belarus and Kazakhstan - gave up their nukes based upon various agreements. It seems to me that Putin believes his predecessors made some bad deals. It would be one thing to argue that Ukraine violated those agreements in some way; it's another to claim Ukraine was never a country in the first place. If that's Trump's position, I haven't heard him say it publicly and wish he would so we can have that discussion. He could explain, for example, why he asked a non country to investigate the Bidens and why his administration had Ambassadors in both places.
Fake country or not, there’s people in it, including people running the show. I just get a kick out out of how, all of a sudden, people have their backs up about sovereignty.
mrhansduck - While I am certainly no "expert" on Ukranian affairs I have some "general" knowledge of Ukranian / Russian history. While this history stretches back centuries, my particular point of concern revolves around the Bolshevik revolution, and the Collectivization of private property in Ukraine, circa 1918 - 1941. Anyone that "thinks" Ukraine was a "happy" member of the Soviet Union should aquaint themselves with Collectivization and the State Farm" process. It is estimated that the Bolsheviks MURDERED 2 - 3 MILLION Ukranian land owners, merchants, farmers, aristocrats, capatalists, academics, intellectuals, homosexuals or those that supported the "West". Killing 2 - 3 million citizens of a region is often met with some hostility. One of the propaganda ploys that Mr. Putin plays is this "action" is needed to "stamp-out" facists / nazi's / right wing western militarists. While it MAY be true that Russia had / has a significant level of support by those that live in the Crimea, this is absolutely untrue in the majority of the nation. Fact - When the Nazi's invaded Ukraine they were initially met with flowers and vodka bottles by Ukrainians - why?? try 2 - 3 million murders.
