Russia is denying it was its missile for now. BS, of course. For now, it is up to Poland now they want us to respond
Fake news, Russia ran out of missiles last month. Sarcasm aside, if I wanted to conduct a false flag (okay, still being sarcastic) this is certainly how I’d do it.
The absolute smartest thing they could have done was immediately mea culpa and enter into direct negotiations with Poland for reparations. That would have given the NATO politicians the out they needed to not hit back.

I have no doubt it was an accident in the sense that Russia did not mean to attack Poland and kill two civilians. But let’s distinguish what kind of accident it was. There is the kind of accident where is one is driving and obeying all traffic laws, etc when suddenly a 6-year-old child breaks away from his parents and runs into traffic, unfortunately hit by you when you were unable to react in time. Then there is the kind of accident where you are intoxicated and fleeing law enforcement and hit the same child at a cross walk. In neither case did you mean to hit the child, but in the second you bear a much larger responsibility legally, civilly, and morally. NATO cannot treat this incident as if Russia were only conducting an exercise and a missile went off course either due to malfunction or human error. Russia’s barbaric invasion of its neighbor provides context. Russia’s failure to implement a no-fire zone that extended well from the international border provides even more context. Russia needs to answer in blood this time. They can apologize afterward.
. They need to be told to leave to Donbas and Eastern Ukraine because it is evident now that they cannot wage their war of conquest without threatening NATO nations. And the Ukrainians should now get the air support to make this happen. Or the Russians can leave in their own after they are told quietly to leave.
I fully agree with you, of course. There is a time for all things under Heaven. Unfortunately, I predict that we will do little if anything. And I would settle for a proportional strike in occupied Ukraine that served as a show of force. But much as I would love to be wrong, I do not think we will do even that.

Yep Ukrainian. Whew. I am really glad it wasn't Russian because that would change the dynamics of this war. So far Russia not crossing that line, so I pray they never do.
Well, wort is being an interceptor missile from a defense system, that means Russia didn’t land a missile in Poland and is off the hook. Which does raise a big issue for me: are they firing missiles over NATO countries? And another: why were they initially described as Russian missiles? More information needed.
I’m curious about the battlefield geometry of that myself. Interceptor missiles would be pointed in the most likely avenue of approach for incoming enemy missiles, so not west. But then again the missile was made in Russia so maybe it malfunctioned badly like so much Russian equipment has. All the more reason to get them some air defense that works. Even better, set up our own in eastern Poland and Romania to relieve the Ukrainians of air defense along their border. Our air defenders get experience, Ukraine can concentrate further east, and Poland can have more piece of mind. Win-win-win.
And why was Russia firing missiles so close to the border KNOWING that Ukraine would fire in self-defense? Ukraine’s defense missile falling into Poland was expected and foreseeable, and thus Russia’s missile barrage that close to the border is the legal proximate cause of the Polish deaths.
