I wish hooters was around when I was five. Got stuck with watching Ozzie and Harriet and Father knows best.
This is stupid. They literally have a kid's menu. Hooters waitresses wear more than most women do at the beach. As long as the waitresses are not acting inappropriately around children, there is nothing wrong here and in all my visits to Hooters, I've never seen waitresses acting unprofessionally or inappropriately. Pretty sure that would get them fired in a heartbeat.
You know that's disingenuous, river. Unless you are now the owner of GC, and Too Hot is turning this place into, rat out your neighbors and fellow Gators for their differing political opinions forum, then you are making new rules that I do not believe in.
If they want to take their kid to Hooters, that's their business. If they want to take their kid to a drag show (that involves no nudity), that's also their business. I believe in freedom.
Not too long after those dudes in Clearwater invented Hooters there was a guy who was refused employment as a waiter. He sued. I don’t remember the outcome. Edit) 1997. $3.75M settlement for gender discrimination. 2nd edit) Three dudes in Illinois sued. Each dude got about $19K. Article didn’t say where the rest of the settlement went.
I read the courts have declared Hooters can hire only women since they call the position “Hooters girl”.
If taking a kid to Hooters is not grooming and perfectly acceptable, which by the way, I think it is, then so is taking them to have drag queens in full get up read books to them.
There is a definite difference to being indifferent to tranny story time and opposed to it. I took my sons to a tranny story time once. The person was like an actor reading the book aloud reminded me a bit of mrs doubtfire. One son is in the navy now married with a kid. The other is finishing up a welding program but he lives with a young lady.
Think they classify them as entertainers. I also think they have to pay them minimum wage not waitress slave fee.
This. We have a Hooters on the beach here. Waitresses dress like prudes compared to literally everyone walking by outside.
Thank you Davis for attempting to keep those who are obsessed with politics to stay focused on the important things: Boobs, Beer, and Wings!
There is no difference between a mother deciding what she does with her child vs what a school teacher does with a mother's child?
Hooters being a common thread, here's an example of the latter. Middle schoolers go to Hooters during class field trip to Baltimore aquarium
Yeah, I can see that distinction. Parents can take their young kid to an R rated movie, but I doubt a school would show one in class. I don't think a parent can't take their kid to a strip club even if the dancers are covering nipples and privates. But there are nudist communities with kids in them. Weird to me, but I don't think it's illegal. I don't know where the moral or legal lines should be drawn. But yeah, parents should have a lot of leeway IMO because everyone has their own ideas. Hooters is a very mild (no pun intended) example to me. But it's an interesting example because everyone knows the place and the whole theme is about breasts; they obviously don't employ male servers. Notably, the people who want to charge parents (and threaten to take their kid away) over drag shows don't seem to give parental approval deference in that situation. I think some of the fear/outrage over drag shows is more about the LGBT aspect than the sexual theme or the amount of skin. If there were a Hooters-style restaurant that had a lesbian or trans theme with similar attire, I think more people would be upset about a kid being there whether the parents approved or not.
