I guess we don't like running a 10 personnel much... too bad. I really liked Whittemore, and he is a good possession receiver that should have found a spot on our receiving team.
I wonder what the coaches didn't like about his game that moved him so far down the depth chart, seemed like a solid possession receiver with great size and hands and was in the regular rotation last year before he got hurt, and very early this year as well?!
Seems to be a good kid so maybe the injury. His brother not coming also makes me wonder but maybe creed wanted to play qb. I’d maybe follow my brother too if I wasn’t playing. His letter seems like he was all gator though.
Good player but not a difference maker. We need to get some difference makers at the receiver position again. Help seems to be on the way at least.
Good luck! Always liked him but as said above, something was keeping him off the field. Made a few clutch catches in the past.
I recall a kid that caught everything that came his way. Hard to figure why he dropped on the depth chart. Got that UF degree, so best of luck to him. Won't be rooting for the Cowbells tho.
Yeah, hate to see the kid go. He caught anything that came near him. Best hands ever. Maybe he wasn't super fast. Kind of caught the ball near the sideline. A crossing pattern. I guess not a ton after the catch yardage? Crap, what do i Know? Anyway it seemed like his opportunities diminished with the new staff. Another player called him out too, I read that on another site. I guess Mullen and his dad were connected. Isn't his dad the Bucholts coach? I truly appreciate seeing him in orange and blue and it's cool he got his degree here. I bet he makes a difference on whatever team he plays for. Best of luck Trent. Go Gators.
Rick wells went at him a little on Twitter. Suggested that he only played due to his fathers relationship with Mullen.
He is a slower receiver who was able to get open occasionally in Mullen’s pass-friendly offenses. Napier has an offense that doesn’t flood the field with receivers every play so the running game can be effective. That is why Napier placed an emphasis on getting some speedier receivers in this recruiting class.
I don't pretend to be an Xs & Os guy or an especially astute evaluator of talent. In fact, I've had to take some pains to watch film breakdowns and to follow some of the former coaches and players who frequent the various boards and podcasts to try and figure out what the hell some of you guys are talking about. It's a case of "old dog meets new trick." But I suspect that Billy decided early on that an infusion of speed and athleticism was sorely needed at the slot and that Trent just wasn't that guy. Add that to the speed and versatility that RP brings to the position, and I suppose that Trent's departure was only a matter of time. As others have already said, TW is obviously a high-character person and a good FB player who has represented himself and UF with dignity and class. I wish him well and have confidence that he will succeed handsomely in life. I will say though that someone who didn't do much himself (Rick Wells I'm talking to you) might want to keep his snide comments to himself.
