Both teams actually shot better from 3 pt land than 2 pt land. Gators up 10 to down 14 pretty quickly. Weird stuff. At least they showed fight to make it close, but losing to FAU? Damn!
this fau team perhaps beats Colorado. That said… Florida has too much talent, and a big skill advantage on the post …. Shouldn’t lose this one.
Team looked worn down. They were always a step slower on defense and the Owls made big shot after big shot. Glad this happened early in the season. The Owls were faster and tons more confident and comfortable with their shooting. We were playing stressed tonight. We’ll bounce back though. The smaller rotation is shaping up. After Castleton, Lofton, Reeves, Richard, and Felder, you have Fudge, Kugel, Jitoboh, and Lane. Lane should have been inserted a lot earlier for defensive purposes. I want Jones and Bonham to do well because we need someone to back up Lofton and Kugel is still learning the college game. Jones continues to struggle from last year and so I think you have to give Bonham his minutes m.
Ole Miss beat this team by 13. No way to spin this. You brought up very good points. I’m most concerned with not defending the 3 pt. Line. Didn’t do it at all.
Argh, this one hurt. FAU a solid team and we're a work in progress...but WAY more talent than them. Guess when any decent team gets red-hot from 3-point land that's the equalizer...
You can’t exaggerate the importance of an early non-conference game. FAU is experienced and a tough matchup for a relatively new Gator team in a coaching transition. Obviously, we have been too dependent on Castleton and it is showing. He is getting worn down during such long stretches (25 attempts is too many, and 44% is bad for a big). Need to get Reeves going sooner. Also have to improve our inside-out passing game. Too many shots in a congested paint and not enough kick outs and ball reversal. But, again, I think that’s all part of the process.
