Thoughts on any of the guys honored yesterday returning? I would like to see Shorter and Lingard return. 18 Gators To Be Honored on Florida’s Senior Day vs. South Carolina ...Of those 18 players, only three will run out of college eligibility upon the conclusion of the 2022 season, those being safety Trey Dean III, linebacker Ventrell Miller and wide receiver Jordan Pouncey. The remaining 15 could opt to return to Florida or transfer to another school for at least one and in some cases two seasons, depending on their redshirt status and COVID-19 eligibility extensions. They could also declare early for the 2023 NFL Draft... QB Jack Anders* P Jack Brady* WR Justin Curtis* S Trey Dean III QB Kyle Engel* OT Richard Gouraige K Travis Freeman* OL Will Harrod TE Noah Keeter* RB Lorenzo Lingard LB Ventrell Miller WR Jordan Pouncey WR William Sawyer* WR Justin Shorter P Tyler Waxman* LS Chase Whitfield* WR Trent Whittemore RB Nay’Quan Wright * walk-on player
There is really no reason for any of them to come back... either non-contributors or have been passed by young freshmen like Caleb Douglas for example for Whittermore absence. Shorter may come back but outside of thatbI imagine it is off to NFL for Gouraige and Miller (does he really have eligibilty left?) And transfer portal for all others.
Yea he's thinking about coming back. His younger brother (24) recruit may be a future Gator OL. Eddy Pierre Louis 6'4 300
He may come back and play an extra/last year in 23 because his brother may be a Gator in 24????? WTF??? lmao HE GONE.
Most of those guys were walk-ons. I'm fine with Gouriage and Shorter moving to the NFL as I don't see either really improving their draft stock with another season at UF. Gouriage, at best, would likely be a rotational player in the 2-deep at OT instead of "the guy". Shorter, while talented, would almost certainly have to split time with others in a much-improved WR room, meaning less opportunity to put up highlight reels for scouts. Both of these guys' abilities are known. I would like to see Lingard return, partly to get some more opportunities and the fact that our RB room wouldn't be as deep next year without him. As noted, everyone else is either going to try to make it as an unsigned free agent in the pros, transfer out, or are finished with their football career.
You may be NFL scout for all I know, but Gouraige seems to have a lot more upside than some of the Gators Olinemen that have had some success in the league. Seems like they always do better after they move on and I think RG has been solid for us.
He didnt say 'because'. He just said his younger brother may be a future Gator. I do think he is considering another year in college. Hes played decent this year, maybe one more year could help him move up draft boards if he continues to get better. Also if AR comes back and maybe a couple others, maybe they think they can make a run at a SEC championship or playoff spot. He really seems to have a good relationship with his coaches as well
