Our d has not allowed a point in 91 minutes of game time. Just saying.. This was after giving up 24 in30 minutes to the aggies, 42 in 60 minutes to uga. 45 in 60 minutes to lsu. And it should be noted it was exactly 1 year ago we allowed 52 to Samford. This is incredible and I thought it deserved its own thread. Great job Gator D!
Something happened at halftime in College Station that changed this team. Our DL is dominating and Trey Dean is playing like his hair is on fire.
I have to believe it’s related to cox’s dismissal. I loved watching him but perhaps he was freelancing too much? I don’t know, but the numbers are inarguable. zero points allowed in 91 minutes. Man that feels so good to type. And Spencer Rattler wants to know Who are those guys?
Scheme definitely changed a bit, alot more man, more 4 downline man sets, actual blitzes. I don't know if Toney adapted or if the other Co DC had more input. Either way I like the results.
We did just play two garbage teams, that helps. But I suppose earlier in the year we couldn't stop anyone. Halftime of the TA&M, we finally grew balls and played some different schemes which suit are current players better.
The opponents weren’t great tho the aggies did get 24 on us first half. But to hold anyone in the p5 to zero points in a half is an achievement. Just 1 year ago we gave up 52 to fcs Samford! We’ve come a long way.
Everything that I have been asking/screaming for... And now we all know why I said we needed to apply that scheme/sets.
USF is terrible but they torched us for 28 points and >400 yards of offense. I'm not here to declare us "healed", but the trend is definitely heading in the right direction.
Only because his agent( yes he has an agent) told him he only has LOWlight films to show the No Fun League.
No offense, but from your username, I would think you have a bit of a higher standard for defenses. I enjoyed the victories last week and this week as much as anyone, but you can't cherry pick a few quarters and use that as your exhibit. A&M was flu-ridden, and South Carolina is just plain bad. We're all glad to see some improvement here, but if you take into account that it is 10 games into the season, criticism of Toney is not without merit. We should have been doing better way before this.
While the Aggies are falling apart, USCe had scored some points this year. 30 vs arky, 24 vs uk, 30 vs the aggies. I’m not saying they are a great offensive team, but they are not like our old Muschamp teams. To shut them out is a big thing. But obv we still have a long way to go.
Now, let’s see if they can continue the momentum w Vandy and then can they shut a hot FSU team down. I’m happy but need to see it more, especially against FSU.
