    Lots of possibilities, none of them positive for the good Marshal.

    Hey where is DD? Hope he wasn’t fragged by the conscripts! Hopefully it’s just a bad case of abject humiliation.

    Waiting for the official red propaganda in why the loss of Kerson is exactly in accordance with the master plan.

    The best part about seeing Alabama lose (even in the rare circumstances where I would prefer them to win) is seeing Lil’ Nicky’s childish temper tantrums on the sidelines, him getting so outraged at the occasions where the world does not bend to his will. Sometimes, he gets so mad I think he’s going stroke out dead right then and there.

    That’s really the biggest disappointment I have about the Ukraine War to this point: that we don’t get to see Putin’s sideline tantrums when, for instance, his vaunted army retreats in disgrace from Kherson.

    But somehow the rubes think that he alone was keeping Putin from invading.

    Well, now you can persuade her to move to Kherson! Real estate is very affordable--lots of fixer-uppers on the market! Very airy, open floor plans. And it's beautiful in the summertime. You can also choose new appliances and windows as you watch the old ones drive away at a high rate of speed. It is also very safe right now. The chances of Russia coming back for another bloody nose are about one in a million. What are you waiting for? {Music plays . . . }

    All I can say is the ski retreat is both stunning from a strategic point of view and damn good news for the Ukrainians war effort.

    No, the reason to make this argument is because the Right CONSTANTLY say that Trump was somehow keeping Putin from invading.

    I've read it on this forum several times.

    "Putin invades Crimea during Obama's time. Nothing during Trumps, then once Biden is in he attacks. Clearly it is the Dem's fault and Trump would have stopped it."

    It is BS.

    Putin was bidding his time during Trump's time waiting for him to do more and more damage to NATO.

    I don’t think that’s true either, that Putin definitely would not have invaded if Trump had remained President. There is a good deal of evidence that taking over Ukraine (with or without the use of force) was always a part of Putin’s strategic design. My larger point stands, however, that it really doesn’t matter unless one is writing an alternate history novel. Biden is President. Not Trump. Win, lose, or years-long frozen conflict, Biden owns it, not Trump. Personally, I’d rather have the win.

    Your second point, about NATO, wholly ignores the damage Biden did himself to the Alliance with his ill-considered forfeiture of Afghanistan. Trump hurt the Alliance’s feelings (for lack of a better expression). I don’t dispute it. I wanted to strangle him for the stupid things that came out of his mouth, even if I agreed with his position that the other NATO members needed to be doing more. But Biden hurt the Alliance’s political and military reputation. Our partners were horrified. Russia and China started salivating. The essence of that is not in dispute. Only the degree to which it informed Russian decision making is arguable to any extent. And we won’t know that for many years, if ever.

    I think you misunderstood my comment. Absolutely, Putin was invading no mater who was president. He had just hoped it would be Trump in office so that the West would be divided and NATO fractured.

    You can’t know that Putin would have invaded if Trump has remained in office anymore than those you criticize cannot know that Putin would not have. There is evidence that supports both positions, and neither can be proven or disproven. That just leaves people believing what they want to believe, which is more akin to religion. It still does not get us any closer to defeating Russia.
