Very defensive reply to a post that didn’t refer to you personally. Sounds like it hit home.

Reagan was almost as old as Biden is now when he left office, so maybe he was more mellow at that point. But I don't think Regan was venomous earlier. He also managed to win 49 states in his second election and shifted the political debate in this country for better or worse. The Iraq war (and fairly or not, the economy) eventually caught up to Bush in terms of his poll numbers, but he did beat the Democrats twice, which is more than Trump can say. I don't consider Obama to to have been venomous, but he's another two-termer, and polling suggests he may be the most popular American politician alive.

I am not sure that Reagan and Bush are good examples to show that Trump's venomous style or brand were better for Republicans (or the country). Campaigns get nasty, of course. That's the way it's going to be. But I think Trump would still be president if he had dialed back his aggression and insults a bit once he got into office. I kept thinking he might at some point. For many, though, I think Trump spewing venom at others was not a means to an end but was itself the end; e.g. a feature rather than a bug.

 

Yes, only a bot would be capable of reading a couple of short paragraphs, thinking about a response, finding the speech discussed with a simple google search, and typing 5 sentences. Good call!

 

I mean, you did just call me a bot in another post. Mostly, I am just laughing at the guy who showed up here, made a bunch of ridiculous predictions, and has now moved on to telling people that have been here for years that they are bots.

 

OK Election denier. It's ok, just because you were wrong on lockdowns, school closures, mask mandates, natural immunity and vaxxing kids doesn't mean you are always wrong, just 90% of the time I guess. Take the L election denier.

An admittedly off-topic side note on use of the Royal We.

Tucker Carlson almost never says the word "I." Everything is "we." No big deal; I assume he's talking about his show, producers, etc. But the other night I was watching his show, and when he sneezed, he said, "Bless Us." Twice. I kid you not. Not sure if there's an inside joke about that with him or more of a scripted thing, but it struck me as really funny for some reason.
