I’ll never accept the comparison of Biden with Trump. You can disagree with the former’s policies - I do with some of them - but you can’t deny his love of country and devotion to the constitution and democratic norms. Trump is a cancer, and the sooner he’s gone, which won’t be long, the better.
This is true, no one posting here has any feel for how normies view politics. The average voter is like a 50 year old person who didnt go to college, while some might be in that age range here, they are certainly outside the income and education level of the average voter.
I definitely sense people who closely follow news and politics are tired. I'm not sure most Americans spend as much time thinking about this stuff like we do. Of course, they have plenty to be tired and stressed out about too.
What bothers me the most is the time, focus and attention of finger-pointing and obsessing with blaming the other side, rather than any effort to actually resolve issues. It’s like Congress’ main function is to make the other side look bad, rather than to make US great.

Didn’t make a full page before both sides start pointing fingers, pointing blame, your side bad my side not so bad… And the politicians continue to win .I don’t think I took one side or the other in my initial post. Both sides suck. I dont think I said Biden was as bad as trump or wasn’t as bad… I said both were more concerned with personal gain than with any of us. Y’all think this works? Ok. Weirdly, for once I might be more closely aligned with wgb… that hurts to type. The constitution isn’t bad. How we have allowed it to be corrupted, twisted, ignored.. how we have been played by the elites… that’s the issue. And I agree… corporations and lay a huge role in this issue.
Not sure if I'm disagreeing here but will add a few thoughts. I do think there are politicians that try their best or at least go in with good intentions. But it's a tough job to have to toe the party line, constantly raise money, and not get sucked into the worst part of politics. It's easy to mock politicians and be angry at them. In fact, that's a time-honored tradition in America, and I'm glad we can do it. But, to me, it's similar to complaining about current music or movies being bad; we can criticize musicians, producers, actors, etc., but at some level, demand is created by consumers. In politics, the consumers are the voters. If Americans are electing horrible people or incentivizing the worst sort of rhetoric, we should probably start with the man in the mirror.
I agree with most of your post, but this is pure horse Sheet. Biden has been about as honest a president as I've seen in sometime. You may not like or agree with what he is saying, but he is not just lying every time he speaks.

I don’t completely disagree. By the time a politician gets tot he national level they have crawled, swimmers, eaten, procreated in the filth and slime of politics. They are tainted. As far as Americans getting what we vote for.. no doubt. Granted.. we don’t have a lot of choices and none of the choices are good.

So the VPs son may have benefited from his fathers name. It isn't like it is illegal or the first time it has happened.
I reject the premise of this thread. There's something in economics called revealed preference. People reveal their preferences by their actions. The actions of the voters in this country tell me they want what we got.
For what time i've been lurking these boards, I've visited "Too Hot" many many times, but never posted. I've seen things that inspired me, caused disbelief and in general required reflection caused by a different point of view. I'm a Baby Boomer who has Raised a Family, helped in raising their families, and still to this day have very in depth discussions with family concerning political views. I relish the conversations I have with my 88 year old mother concerning our views and their differences, and Listen openly to my grand children. As polarizing as politics can be, I have one rule.....LISTEN.....THINK......CONSIDER......DECIDE.....ACCEPT I'm neither a rocket scientist, nor an Idiot. For everything I thought I "Knew" at one time or another, that reality always changes. The GOOD / BAD mentality will neither improve my life, nor earn me the respect of those I talk with. I've decided to look at a persons views and find the one common bond, rather than keep a list of what I may not see eye to eye with them on. If there isnt a common bond, it is what it is....... I'm not trying to convince anyone here into validating me, the world can be a small spiteful place, unforgiving, biased, full of closed minded people trying to push a single point infinitude. I choose to find the path forward with those whom hold different views, instead of creating some sort on monotone utopia where we all are carbon copies of each other. Disagree. I don’t want either of the choices I get. The system is rigged to make it nearly impossible for anyone but the candidates anointed by these two political machines to win an election.
Yeah, many "normal" people don't want to get into politics, particularly in this environment. I don't blame them. We have a problem with gerrymandered districts that cater to the most partisan on either side. We have tons of corporate, party, and big donor money that makes it hard for independent-minded candidates to have a chance. We have a media and social media culture intent to cherry pick and distort things to make people mad at the other side. But I also think, for example, voters have had some better options and they tend to like the firebrand stuff in many races. Congress is very unpopular as a whole, but lots of people like their incumbent politicians and vote them back into office each election. Moreover, a lot of Americans don't vote and probably can't name the Vice President if you asked them. It's a bit of a chicken/egg discussion I suppose. I just feel like while it's fair to point the finger and politicians and the media, the voters have a role to play here, too, if they're not happy with their options or the direction of the country.
