We are still recruiting Kinsler. Staff is still high on him. EDIT: And he will be at the SC game this weekend. EDIT2: He’s not visiting after talking to Mario.
That’s why I don’t like to badmouth kids that commit elsewhere, especially before signing day. You can question their decision making skills, but it’s a personal decision and these are 17-year olds.
Perhaps with Rashada we can breathe easier on our Wide Receiver reruits? Hopefully helps to pull in some others including OL.
I’ll wait until he’s been on campus for a couple years. The loi doesn’t mean any more than a verbal these days.
Agree completely — but if he chooses to take shots at UF or troll us like Cormani did then I want no part of him. That to me is burning down the bridge.
Part of the reason could be that he's having a great season and looks a bit better than he did as a junior, especially with regard to completion percentage. He's up to 64% from the mid 50s last season. Let's not forget that many here were trashing him before he committed to UF, mostly because of his lack of accuracy. As far as other recruits following him, I wonder if he still has relationships with former IMG teammates.
I don’t know enough about the backstory to feel bad about the situation. I’m sure he wanted to be a Gator and we were unwilling to come up to his asking price.
Happy for this kid because he is getting a better coach! Period. In the midst of all the NIL, blah blah, sometimes a big factor may be that a kid would rather play for this guy than the other. I would certainly want to play for Napier over Crystobal. And maybe the kid realized Miami may be doing things with NIL that will catch up to it. Who knows. But great to get another good player at a position of need. The AR NFL talk helped. As for who stays , who signs and who goes bc of this...who cares? A good coach won't care too much ( maybe just a little). We need Stokes and Rashada. We need to make that QB room look like Ga's--even if a walk on ends up being the best option in the end. Get the competition going. Kids will come and go for various reasons over the next few weeks. There will be some surprises on signing day bc of , among others, this NIL thing. We can't get enough QB's. Someone said this earlier and it is interesting: if Rashada got some $$ from Miami, he might be the first to get paid by one school then go to another before signing day. If pay for play is illegal and against NCAA rules, then the smartest , though not necessarily the most honorable, thing a kid can do is get $$$ from one school then go to the school he really wants to play for. If Rashada already got paid by Miami some signing type bonus, then we ought to thank Combustion Head over there for bank rolling his future Gator career. Ruiz can't sue him for breach of contract bc it would be an illegal contract if it is conditioned on playing for Miami. And from an evidentiary perspective, if a kid only gets $$$ after he enrolls, I would argue that is proof that payment is contingent on play. Otherwise, if a company wants to bank on akid's name , image and likeness, what does it matter where he plays as long as he plays somewhere? So it does not have to be a curse for kids we want to get royally bankrolled by Miami. In fact, we ought to tell guys like Cormani : " get as much as you can from Miami then go the team you really want to play for. You can have your tres leches and eat it too." Finally , as for our fans and their entitlement mentality, its like anything else. Nothing wrong with shooting for and expecting the best. But it is when people get crazy , arrogant and a down right pain in the ass that it spills over into something unwanted. Wisdom/patience is a cool thing, and we could all use more of it.
