If I recall correctly, his Covid mortality rate was on par with California’s, worse than others, and better than others. There appeared to be mo rhyme or reason as to why some states did better than others (the restrictions, or lack of restrictions, didn’t seem to mesh with the overall statistical figures). It seemed like it was the luck of the draw.

Maybe Florida did ok, despite DeSantis, because Florida had more year-long weather that allowed outdoor dining and activities?

FL didn't hide numbers. Do yourself a favor and stop watching MSNBC. The rest is complete garbage. Do better.

I think DeSantis as a presidential candidate will be interesting. He seems to have incredibly thin skin for a politician, and he got absolutely housed in his debates with both Gilliam and Crist. On the other hand he's shown an ability to connect with people generally, but I'm curious how he will hold up when he's getting ruthlessly attacked by five or six fellow Republicans during the primaries, and then getting worse than that in the general. he might do great, but previous performances seem to way against that conclusion. In the end it might not matter at all, I'm not sure debates and being a whiney thin-skinned fleeb count as much as they used to.

What color is the sky in your world? Housed in the debates? The partisanship is strong in you.

It’s pretty much well known that Desantis is a piss poor debater. He lost his cool multiple times against Gillum and Crist cornered him on several topics that he either danced around or couldn’t give an answer to. Can’t really argue that.

he is incredibly insecure for someone who has accomplished so much. surrounds himself with yes men and strikes out at those who dare to attempt to defy him. Uses the power of the EO to settle power battles with no regard to the legality of it and dares someone to challenge him on it. a lot of very trumpian attributes, just not as obnoxious (low low bar)

DeSantis and Ladapo recently recommended that males between the ages of 18-35 (I believe) in Florida should not get vaccinated. If I recall correctly, they also recommended a while ago that, rather than people getting vaccinated, they should get the monoclonal antibody infusion if they came down with COVID-19. In addition to the general stupidity of getting a several thousand dollars treatment after you are already sick, instead of getting an inexpensive vaccine, the monoclonal antibody infusion had already been shown to be ineffective against the Omicron variant. Finally, DeSantis publicly berated the kids on stage with him at a PR event for wearing masks. That was at a time when it was wiser to wear masks than it is now. That being said, we probably will see a new outbreak which will be in part because everyone has stopped wearing masks.

There is also a dangerous decline in usage of other previously uncontroversial vaccines in Florida likely due to the official disinformation campaign.

In any event, at least of our other Florida jerks is failing

I’m just glad it came after the election.

Otherwise we would here about how people were disenfranchised because of the storm and couldn’t vote.

The fact that we have one of the highest population of elderly has a lot to do with more people dying. That’s the demographic that has the highest mortality (across every state and country).

you’re accusing Florida of hiding dead people yet are sure that places like Russia, India, China counted all their covid cases and dead.
    Laughable.

Perfect example of "whataboutism" – are we talking about other countries here? I'll agree with you that Russia India and China fudged numbers, so that makes DeSantis the same as Russia, India, and China. Happy now?

No it isn’t you made a claim that the US had more covid deaths that just about anyone. That’s based on measurable data. The point is your post is flat out wrong as many countries couldn’t everyone and didn’t care to count all their covid deaths.

You also made a charge that Florida hid covid deaths?
And facts to back that up?
And counting some who died of covid inst the same as died with covid.

OK I'll amend my statement to the US had more deaths than any country we compare ourselves to, which typically is countries in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, etc. Last time I checked we didn't put the US in the same category as China India or Russia, but maybe you do.

as for the state of Florida fudging Covid deaths google is your friend there. I'm not gonna do the work for you, that's the whole problem with you guys – you don't wanna do any research at all, you just want to parrot whatever conservative news source already validates your preconceived notions.
