While on the other side, they will vote for a potato as long as there is a "D" next to the name. Conservatives have gotten so soft it is pathetic. Most aren't really conservative anyway.

 

The sudden turn on Trump is just butthurt about the failed red wave. They were all set to strut and crow about "their" success with no concerns about the poor quality of the MAGA candidates - all were welcome when it fed their ego. Look at the threads and comments leading up to the election, like the "where are all the libbies?" on Tuesday morning.

Ready to taunt the "libbies" and take all the credit for their political acumen, they had to become regular, 'just one vote' voters that couldn't be blamed for what happened in other states. Take all the credit, accept no blame, hmmmm...

Desantis was the obvious heir to Trump's crown of thorns, even if the red "tsunami" had occurred, but Donny must feel like an Apprentice intern from the way he's been so quickly discarded now that he's used up.

Trump has been throwing stupid, immature, petty and petulant insults at others since he hit the national stage - probably well before. And I have no doubt that's been part of his appeal.
Now that he's turned his aim toward a Republican that a lot of people really like, it's become too much. Suddenly that kind of behavior is a turnoff.

 

In 2016 I voted for Gary Johnson the libertarian. I didn’t like him. I just couldn’t imagine voting for trump or Hillary. In 2020 I voted for Biden. Biden isn’t great but he is a moderate decent human being. That is a big step up for trump. I think I am done with the Republican Party until they stop this war on women.

 

I know, I was mocking Trump’s comments about his higher vote total in Florida.

 

I disagree, and I am not talking about Trump specifically. I look at it as voting for the lesser of two evils. I haven't voted FOR someone in about 40 years. Give me a decent candidate and I will vote FOR them.

 

Please, it's not like Google didn't exist. You didn't have to be a "raving liberal" to miss the bankruptcies, the stiffed contractors, the gross behavior, etc.

 

Sure. I have voted for a Democratic over a Republican in the past.

Again, the fact that I voted for Trump, after a great deal of consideration, was because I had an even lower opinion of his opponents.

And it’s not like most of them didn’t vote again for Trump in 2020.

 

I think basically we've learned that if Trump ran unopposed or against another Republican, some people wouldn't vote for him

history is full of examples where a populist got into power and essentially became a dictator because of opponents that weren't compelling. The problem is that all of these people had a single disqualifying element that was overlooked: they were fascists and didn't believe in democratic government. No matter how much you dislike the alternative, voting for someone who has no respect for the rule of law and wants to install themselves as dictator is always a bad move no matter how much you like them.

 

I'm genuinely glad trump has lost your vote.

That being said, the original "Never Trump" was a Republican who saw the threat to America and her democracy before the 2016 election. They did so at some risk to career and reputation. I sense you will never vote for trump again because he's dragging other Republican candidates down. Perhaps you're now "Anti-trump"?

I was in a garage apt outside of Seward Alaska watching the first pub debate at 3 in the afternoon. I literally thought that the whole world was laughing with me & at Trump & expected his numbers to go to 1-2%. The guy went out of his way to be a joke of a candidate & let the world know what a disinterested, ignorant jackwad he is. How anyone saw a fighter in a chronic crybaby is beyond me. after 4 years of big gov lefty economic "policy" the sheep came back. unreal. these dorks even cheered the take downs of Lynn Cheney & Justin Amash, etc.
