FYI, I believe Gatorcise is the guy who thinks we should execute people for all sorts of offenses and cut shoplifters' hand off.

Did you have perspective, gratitude and appreciation at 21? It's not human nature for young people to have those things. And everything is relative. If the gap between the top and the bottom is very wide, it doesn't matter that those on the bottom have easier lives (due to technological advancement) than people did 100 years ago. They see how bad they have it compared to the top, as they should.

When would this not ever be the case? Historically, ‘have nots’ always see the ‘haves’ and claim it’s not fair.
Libbies are creating a huge divide by clamoring to take from those who ‘have’. The world has always worked this way, but we have a lot of entitlement that is being encouraged and it’s destructive.

The constitution as a document to protect rights did a very piss poor job of doing that. It protected white, straight, Anglo men. It left out 51% of the population; their own mothers. It left out the actualnn mmmmm people form the Americas; left out half the population of the south( not counting women). There’s a reason ole Abe said “Four Score and 7 Years ago”; it had nothing to do with that very flawed document; “The Constitution”. He referrred to the one that had no compromises, “The Declaration of Independence”. If that had been used as the overall mission statement to design the Constitution; no one would have been more equal that any other. But; this was a case of human greed and lust for power destroying a beutiful ideal by one very smart man. The idiots got involved and; we’ll it’s still a heap of on-sense even after attempts to plug the holes.

Some people are just born with the ‘its not fair’ gene. I honestly do believe it’s a personality trait.
Life will never be perfectly just and equal. Irrational beliefs are at the root.

Or get drafted at 18. That is the real reason why voting should stay at 18, unless they want to raise the draft age.

I'm sure there was an income gap between baby boomers and whatever their parents were called back in the 70's. They just started working, timed it out with the increase in the stock market in the 80's and then grew it again with the 90's internet boom. That's why we are where we are with baby boomers income.
What is interesting is, Meta just laid off 11,000 people which isn't a ton, but I bet those people are mostly gen z and millennials. We will see if they start to see that they actually need an economy booming and companies be strong so they can have a job or an idea and grow their wealth.

no. I did not have all the ans then nor do I have them now. IMO, the world seems to suffer from irrational pessimism. As a rational optimist, it's upsetting to see. People's perspectives on the environment, health, poverty, racism, & so on are so far from the reality. Closing this gap would do wonders, IMO. I had to resort to my lame cell phone example, b/c I can no longer find my lists showing that virtually everything has gotten better & in many cases the rate of improvement is increasing too.

On what principle is it, when we see nothing but improvement behind us, we are to expect nothing but deterioration before us? Thomas Babington Macaulay

Can't rely on that, need to continue to do things about the leftist echo chambers in schools and universities.

If media and environments kids surround themselves with push them towards the left, most will trend in that direction. Ideally we should strive for neutral environments. Knowing the way American politics works, there will be so much arguments over what "neutrality" encompasses, it will just turn into partisan fights over schools and media. But hey, that's better than Democrats controlling schools and media unchecked.

I would be happy if scientists and educators could control education. Science deniers are starting to control education in the red states. Creationism should be taught in church not public schools.

Ideas derived from CRT, equity-based values, and safe spaces are a far more prevalent issue than teaching creationism in schools, though we obviously shouldn't teach creationism in schools.

CRT is not taught in public schools. I don’t even know what equity based values and safe spaces mean.

    1) I think the first sentence is a little unfair. I see it in classrooms every day, being explicitly taught. 'Not an ounce'?

    2) "Emotions and feelings" are to be human. Your first two sentences aren't mutually exclusive. To dismiss how we feel, as if it's somehow an optional extra, is unhealthy. And it's not a Gen Z thing - this knowledge has been well known, scientifically, for a long, long time. The issue is that we're talking about it openly for the first time in history, in an era of information sharing.

    3) I work in mental wellbeing. This notion of 'claiming mental health' is something I hear a lot. For starters, we all have "mental health", just as we do physical health. We all have the potential to suffer, and to thrive, at times. It's nothing to do with strength or resilience. In fact, there's overwhelming evidence to show that those who struggle most are the ones that often project as outwardly fine to 'keep up appearances' and avoid the stigma that reaching out for help somehow equates to weakness. If we don't take steps to address our wellbeing, prolonged mental ill health can lead to disorders.

For me, we need to go back to basics with language, regardless of age. Human beings are biologically wired to scan our environments for threat/adversity and respond accordingly. A small piece of our brains - our amygdala - does this, without any permission, and - for neurobiological reasons - it is most active when we're younger (brains develop upwards, over time). As a society, we seem entrenched at the moment in a state of hyperbole, which does not help how this part of everyone's brain responds one bit. People won't calmly listen to one another nowadays and so everything in media, advertising, politics, etc is polarising and intense - threat. The news media is awful at this - everything is a 'disaster waiting to happen'. All partisanship and name-calling. Change that environment of superlative-living, live in a more moderated environment around language and there will be a fundamental positive shift in mental wellbeing, and people's ability to cope, I'm certain.

We see the typical smokescreens here but the fact is that the younger generation isn't going to sit by and watch a country moving towards being for everyone rolled back to where it's only for white males and whatever largesse they deign to bestow on others.

Younger generation was promised student loan debts getting wiped out. What a crock of sheet. Judge already struck it down but Biden got the kids out to vote for something free.

And you've got a percentage of the younger generation who think it's OK to death penalty somone for hate speech, so there's that.
