Once again, you were on point with your assessment on the Avery decision! So glad you rescinded on your decision to leave us here at gatorcountry.com. I haven't been on here since losing the tennessee game-I was sky high in optimism after we beat Utah but came crashing down after losing to Kentucky AGAIN. It's been such an emotional rollercoaster ride for nearly a decade with Gator football and to come on this site and be reminded of another game we lost has been too disparaging. For the 1st time in my life I didn't watch the Georgia game and losing did not send me spiraling down a hole of deep depression. Maybe apathy is my mind's way of protecting me? In all kinds of weather...I've never been a fair-weather Gator until now. God I hope they don't revoke my membership.

On LSU's Tiger Drippings...Droooppings...Droppings (whatever) site, LSU fans display their absolute loathing of Gator gymnastics. They are so envious of us. Regarding Neff's recruiting, one person wrote:
...My mom, in very few words, essentially implied that the entire Florida team and coaching staff are actually currently violating the NCAA recruitment rules for communication between a recruit and a program, with their social media presence and their actions online. I’ve always gotten bad vibes from they entire coaching staff and they’ve rubbed me the wrong way for years. I really Really REALLY hope Avery doesn’t chose there because something sketchy is going on at Florida and I think it needs to be investigated.
    Another person's quote:
UF, where a coach can do less with more better than anyone else ever
    Another:
Florida seems to be a little bit TOO liberal in my opinion for someone like her
    And another
I don’t see her going to Florida. I agree with someone who said it is too liberal. I hope she takes lsu but if not I think she just stays home and goes Utah.
I'm not sure why they think Florida is "too liberal?" They must not be paying attention to DeSantis's Christian Nationalism indoctrination of the state's public institutions?
    And another:
Unless Fla knows something I think that they are being presumptuous and hopefully she finds that as unappealing as I do.
    ....
Well she chose Utah. Sad she’s not coming to lsu but loving the pie in Florida’s face now!

The '23 season can't start soon enough! Jenny has us in great position to compete for the NCAA title for many years. I truly believe once she's won her 1st title and finally over the proverbial hump, more championships will quickly follow.

Hey LSU, regarding underachieving, your team did not make it out of regionals last year and we finished second in the team finals with a 198+ score so put that in your pipe and smoke it.

I just didn't think it right to censor and discriminate against views that don't agree with the majority at Too Hot which is exactly what happened to me. They need to change to board name to Safe Space for Snowflakes.

I've been on these boards since 1998. I'm not going to let one bad experience change my enjoyment for the rest of the forums. No, I'm not going anywhere. Thanks for your comment.

I've watched every football game although I have truly only enjoyed the at aTm game. It's the first hint of what this team with this talent level can be. I don't count Utah as I thought we were lucky to beat the better team on that night. I hope to watch a few more wins plus a minor bowl game which will give the team 15 extra practices. I don't care who we play. I just think the extra practices can help going into next spring.

UF had the best team last year and didn't win it. Several of our gymnasts let the Final get too big for their nerves. That's all it took to finish a close second.

We will have the usual competition again in the SEC and nationwide. We all know who they are. It'll take a strong and focused resolve, OU always seems to have this it factor, plus the talent to win it all in 23. I think this is UF's year, but I thought this in 22 as well. I agree with you that there will be more opportunities in the coming years.

Hey ETGator1, Check out this New York Times article where Olivia Dunne talks about her $1 million NIL deal:
New Endorsements for College Athletes Resurface an Old Concern: Sex Sells
Female college athletes are making millions thanks to their large social media followings. But some who have fought for equity in women’s sports worry that their brand building is regressive.

Olivia Dunne is a gymnast on Louisiana State’s women’s team.
She was an all-American in her freshman year and made the Southeastern Conference’s honor roll as a sophomore majoring in interdisciplinary studies.Ahead of the start of her junior season, Dunne is also at the leading edge of a movement shaking the old foundations of college sports: a female student athlete raking in cash thanks to the passage in 2021 of new rules allowing college athletes to sign name, image and likeness, or N.I.L., deals.

Dunne, 20, won’t give specifics on her earnings, which at least one industry analyst projects will top $2 million over the next year.

“Seven figures,” she said. “That is something I’m proud of. Especially since I’m a woman in college sports.” She added: “There are no professional leagues for most women’s sports after college.”

    1. Two gymnasts who have been successful with NIL, Olivia Dunne and Suni Lee with Dunne the more successful.

    2. Suni has done her NIL on the back of her Olympic experience, Tokyo All-Around Gold Medalist.

    3. Olivia has used her toned and trained body to become a sexy model. At 34-24-34, she can sell anything which is what her NIL contractors want. She is obviously worth the money:

    4. Apparently, the women gymnasts aren't going to make the big bucks without supplying some sizzle in their marketing/modeling. I'm not suggesting anything out of line for a college female gymnast, but if you've got it, flaunt it. The women are already doing that during the meets anyway. There is no need to leave NIL money on the table.

I'm going to miss Alyssa Baumann, my favorite. Guess I'll have to settle for Rachel Baumann. She is going to look great in Gator colors.

The one I am most concerned with replacing is Megan Skaggs. She was a monster in the all-around leadoff position last season. She put up numbers that helped everyone get better numbers. That position was held down by Payton Richards in 21, but she couldn't and likely can't put up the numbers Megan Skaggs did. It will be interesting to see which gymnast is selfless enough to pick up the all-around leadoff position and embrace it for the success of the team.

Skaggs was the mother of that team. I'm sure Jenny had that in mind when she kept Megan on as Assistant to the Head Coach. Skaggs will be a steadying hand,

    Suni Lee News/Rumor:

Apparently, Suni Lee told her AU teammates on Sunday that she is returning to Elite Gymnastics after the 2022/23 year.

Apparently this is suni’s last ncaa season then she’s going back to elite. Not surprised really : Gymnastics (reddit.com)

Supposedly, she will make an official announcement to the press on Tuesday.

Me? I think she wants to move on with Trinity Thomas so she can be at full elite for Paris 24. I hope Trinity spanks her good again in 23 and then earns a spot on the Olympics team. :)

Leanne Wong is undecided on what she is going to do in the 2023-24 year. One thing is certain, there will be many excellent gymnasts competing for the limited slots on the US Olympics team headed to Paris. They can't all go.
