Millennials and Gen Z will dictate American politics in 2024

Counting on the 18-29 voting bloc is perfect D strategy. This is like the Dog candidate for community pet focusing on the Cat vote. And look how well it’s going! Only lost by a little instead of a lot. Or as D’s call it, winning!

 

We were the world's only superpower. How could we get on track? Maybe you just want it derailed.

 

They are until they achieve some wealth. We have a constitution to preserve you rights. Dumbass conspiracies go both ways.

 

By not destroying the environment, creating massive amounts of income inequality, trying to destroy our democracy, rolling civil rights and civil liberties back decades, and saddling the next generation with insane amounts of debt. Your generation, unlike the ones that came before you, have left this country in a worse place than you found it.

 

The Constitution is a piece of parchment. It has often failed to preserve people's rights during the history of our nation.

 

you graduated in 09. When I graduated, the richest peeps in the world couldn't even dream of some of the stuff that is free with your phone. A lot of it did not exist. What did exist would have cost the avg person millions. Additionally, you have primo porn, every tv show ever made, every movie, novel, song, work of art & so on for free or cheap at your fingertips. Whenever you want it. no one anywhere had the access to the info & software that can solve all kinds of tasks. you have it in your pocket. google maps may be the most valuable thing ever created. I bet you can have all sorts of exotic food delivered to your door in 30 mins. weed is tots better now too. What you need is Perspective. Gratitude & Appreciation. It will make you a lot happier. We can now grow twice as much food on the same amt of land.

 

FDR and the new deal may have been a good intention, but very shortsighted. When you can print all the money and buy votes it is easy to do (both sides guilty). The constitution was not.

 

But we all have that stuff. Millennials are supposed to be happy and not complain because they have cell phones? I have one too. And I can tell you it hasn't actually made me any happier than I was 40 years ago.

 

This post has broken my brain; kind of like how Jeremy Bearimy broke Chidi’s. Do you mean were, We’re, or are? It all works, but in different ways.

 

It's not rocket science, I don't think.

Critical thinking skills and information-sharing are being developed more than at any point in history.

The baby-boomer generation (generally, not in all individual cases, of course) are surely the wealthiest generation collectively in history. I'm a mid-40's Gen Xer - I got on the end of the housing equity boom, but only because I had it drilled into me by my parents that the gravy train was leaving the station.

Gen Z - looking at things critically - see the relative inequity in income and power. It's not a surprise to me that they'd want to see change. Older people, who have benefited from it, likewise are happy with policies which preserve the status quo. This polling is not unique to America - it's the same in the UK by generation.

When we've all finished name-calling each other, the truth is that change is coming. People will always be relied upon to act in their own best interests.

 

There is not an ounce of critical thinking by gen z. It is all based on emotion and feelings. It's why they crack so easily under the slightest adversity and claim mental health. They see the difference in the income and power and feel entitled to now without earning it then break when they realize it comes with responsibility.

 

GOP commentators are already talking about raising the voting age to 21. No worries, though. You can still be forced to get an abortion at 10 or be able to buy an AR-15 at 18.

 

Can’t buy time though. Next 2 decades will flip the electorate on its head and unless they bury that wealth in their grave…..

You say all that like those are good things. Life was infinitely better before the internet and smart phones.
