Yea and TAM was ranked 6th in the country to start the football season. Those rankings mean nothing after a single game.
Hamilton is at FSU which used to be a football school but went into a basketball conference. They dominated the ACC in football for several years, but Clemson emerged, and FSU faded into the woodwork. FSU's basketball program has been a salve- a balm for the SOW. They dominated us under Mike White and even some years under Donovan. I remember the year one of our players tipped the ball into their basket and we lost. He is comfortable and FSU is satisfied with his getting them to the dance, challenging in the ACC (which is a strong conference), and competing against us year in and year out. That level of performance would have extended MW's time here.
I remember one year Tenn lost to some mediocre lower division team in the beginning of the season. Somebody on this board was all excited and claimed we beat Teen twice that season. Guess what? Tenn. beat us soundly twice. Each game is it own self. After we beat FSU then we can talk about them losing to Stetson.
I remember the Michigan State team that won it all in 2000 lost a nonconference game to a pretty lowly team. In the middle of the season too, at that. That being said, I love to see FSU lose.
I agree about not talking smack about a team, especially one that has had the upper hand. However, enjoying fsu losing to anyone, especially hatters, is time to party.
I still feel bad for the Colonel about that play. He was a walkon who turned out to be a decent player for the Gators. Solid defender, could have started at a lot of midmajor programs. That play was just a fluke.
Yep. He always seemed like a good kid. Great that he got the opportunity; unfortunate bounce on that one.
In football the better team wins almost all the time. In basketball the better team usually wins. In baseball the worst team in the league might sweep the best team. That's why they need 162 games.
