Just reposted this._didn’t see this thread. I hope this guy is wrong. He really needs another year. He will just sit the bench in the pros.

This gets batted about a lot but:

    Trey Lance college stats:
    66% completion, 30:1 TD:INT ratio. Yes, thirty-to-one. 1,325 rushing yards, 7 YPC

    Anthony Richardson college stats:
    56% completion, 16:13 TD:INT ratio. 950 rushing yards, 7.2 YPC

Yes, one is in FBS and the SEC. But ... that's performance on the field. It's something to point to.

AR has that in bits and pieces but not as a whole.

It's really not the same thing.

Would I take the 1st round money? 99 times out of 100. But the risk here is they draft him and don't give him time and then he's out the door. And maybe that's ok. It's a big payday.

The opportunity cost is getting better and being given more time getting drafted a year later.

I think the Gators are fine either way, I just hope AR is cautious. Because I believe he has potential to be a franchise guy and I worry that 1st round draft shrinks the timeline.

Trask has spent the past 2 yrs getting paid and not taking punishment. Practicing and film study as much as he wants full time. Every injury healed up. If you have seen him lately, he is jacked.

I don't think anyone's questioning that. If he gets the 1st round grade it doesn't mean he was ready. The best scouts in all of NFL get it wrong, and fairly often. This is a zero sum game and sometimes actors in a zero sum game make irrational decisions.

And note that again I think there's a scenario wherein it's a very smart decision to draft him. But that means committing to him learning for more than a year or more. Like Trask. But again, that doesn't often happen with 1st round picks. They're usually expected to jump in by year 2.

So, he has a private off season trainer? That's interesting. I hope he's not in AR's ear while Napier is busy trying to fix AR's issue in finding the best open receiver to throw it to. He needs to better read the defenses and to better find the right receivers in the open field. That's NOT something you learn in the NFL, it's something you need to already know/master in college.

I just hope his adviser, whomever it is, isn't telling him to jump into the NFL for a free payday.

You are right on the success on the field. My point is he was drafted all based on potential off of very raw skills. I would be surprised if AR wasn’t a first rounder if I had to bet.

He should go. He is as good as he is gonna be on the college level. No need to come back

He needs to be listening to Billy. If he isn’t, then, maybe there’s your sign

The sad part is this is the very type of talk which occurred early in the season which contributed to him sucking it up. People need to shut up and stop talking publicly about him going pro. That is the last thing this kid needs to make them successful.

There are hopefully 4 more games in this season. I hope AR is focused on SC and not on his future. If he takes care of the present the future takes care of itself.

Or, stay and not improve much means losing a ton of money. If he is able to go middle of the second round or better, then I think he should. I think it will be better for the team moving forward, too.

He's currently getting paid right? Stop acting like he's being abused. Good grief.

Really bad comparison. FBS vs not only sec but 3 in top 10 and 4 in top 25. If AR was in FBS he would have similar I’d not better stats

If he goes first round, I'd wish him well and root for him next preseason. He's got to go if he is a first rounder. But, I won't lose a wink of sleep if he goes pro. Its hard to care much when you've only seen elite qb play from AR sporadically here or there up to this point. I do think he has the potential to have a really good year next year here though.

My main concern if I were an NFL guy is AR's tendency to be inaccurate on the easy throws. It is throws like the end of the TB game (or the LSU game for that matter), think if Brady had not put the ball out in front of the TE allowing him to stay at full speed and then into the EZ. AR would have thrown that into receiver's body more often than not and would have come up short. I'm not sure how easy it is to fix that because its been a bit too common for him.
