Perine didn't play for us last year... Nice try.

And who was the RB coach during Perine's Junior and Senior years?

I like the running backs coach we have now... he actually teaches the spin move.

And I know what you and apkgator are trying to do. I do NOT blame the running backs for their position coach's shortfalls.

yea i didnt dislike Knox as a position coach; it was his failure recruiting wise at RB and rotation 2020 and 2021 that I disliked but you know how recruiting is….revisit it 2-3 years after the fact and the RB’s we failed to land in the 2020 cycle….NONE of them have developed into stars besides Gibbs and Zach Evans and neither one were RB’s were in the convo for early in their recruitment :

    Bowman
    Ashaad Clayton
    Parrish
    Rooster Knighton
    Toafili
    Mike Drennon
    Keyvone Lee
    Marks
    EJ Smith

none of these guys have shown anything in 3 years that would make me think they would start over Trell or Trevor

It's funny sometimes how a no nothing fan like myself can see a guy like Gibbs and rate him higher than all of those guys. Sure it's mostly luck along with some situational issues like offensive scheme, surrounding talent , work ethic, injury luck etc but Gibbs was off the map until he broke out his senior year at which time I thought he looked way better than bowman and others who everyone drooled over. The dude had the combination of speed, power, north south running, jab step, cutting etc that just popped off the video. We've done well without him but that was one recruit I really wanted.

Wilson is that guy for me this class although I wish we had a linebacker that checked all the can't miss boxes.

Perkins would have been that guy last year although I'm glad we got James.

So he only sucked as the RB coach last year and you liked him the previous 3 years? Nice try

I would add, my undersatnding is that Knox was overruled on recruiting takes on numerous kids.
I would imagine the rotation was a joint decision by the staff. Ironically, I mostly remember people wanting more Wright and less DP and Malik. I specifically remember posting the YPC differential to show why Wright was the least productive to those calling for him. Now everyone thinks DP should have been the guy.
Bottom line, I think Knox is a solid RB coach. Not a superstar, but knows his craft and knows the SEC

knox really helped both Malik and Perine evolve as pass catchers which he never gets credit for. Perine washed out in NY due to lack of talent and not due to lack of being developed and we see what Pierce has been and Malik Davis made some noise the other week with Dallas. Not saying Knox is RBU coach, but he was solid. I hope they aren’t thinking we are saying he was an elite coach but we’re just giving credit where credit is due

That's kinda what we are asking you?
AGAIN, his RB room performed extremely well the entire 4 years he was here. I'm not sure it's really debatable, rushing, pass receiving, blocking were all solid. The kids developed and moved on to the next level.
The kids respected him, as a group they were also great off the field. Checks most of the boxes I look for.
So why do you think he sucked as a RB coach? Pretty simple question that you can't seem to answer

Our running backs were sound blockers, pass catchers and runners. They clearly had good coaching. That's undeniable

I liked all of our running backs , past and present, including Perine. But what did Knox have to do with recruiting him.

I also think our new running backs coach is the real deal, Knox? Not so much.

I think our RB's under Knox could have done the same thing our current backs are doing if i'm being honest. I think you may be overlooking two things:

    1. play calling. we're prioritizing the run more under Nape than Mullen did

    2. offensive line play. Our line this year is way better, imo, than any OL that we had under Mullen. 2018 OL is close, and maybe are even depending on who you ask. Remember in 2020 Trask was afforded to have the year we he had because...our OL couldn't run block worth a damn.

In 13 games in 2018, our leading carries was Perine with 134 attempts, Scarlett with 131 attempts, and OVO Franks with 110.

So far through 9 games, Trell has 92 carries, Trevor has 84, and GVO Ant has 74.

I can't remember one player that singed with us because of Knox... and I know everyone disliked Knox for one reason or another when he was our RBC.

I know there were several reasons why our running backs never really made an impact on the field. To say that Mullen's O-line was not as good in the running game would be accurate to some degree, but his whole coaching staff seemed off on the recruiting trial, even though that's not what I was talking about either.

Some evaluations on players were off, and Mullen didn't always play the best guys on the team - see Trask and what it took to get him under center. It was a freak accident to Franks that forced Mullen's hand.

I know I DO LIKE our new running backs coach, he can recruit and he can coach.

The only coach that I wanted to retain was our TEs coach. But now he too is a distant memory, and we have new life in coaching and in recruiting.

I'm so happy we got Napier... and it will take him a bit of time to get his team to play the way he and his staff want them to play like.

So because Perine was already here and Knox only developed him and got him to the NFL, you think Knox "sucked"? And you continue to ignore every other aspect that I have pointed out about his tenure. There's some logic

I also like Juluke. But just saying "Knox sucked" over and over doesn't make it true, the results prove otherwise.

Let's just agree to disagree.. and leave this where it is. Okay? You see results differently than I do and that's okay too.

But yeah, Juluke is the real deal and I am so happy he's our running backs coach. I thought we would have been better off with someone else at first, Ju'Juan Seider, but now that I've had a chance to see how well Juluke has done I no longer feel that way.

I think we have the right man for the job in Juluke, hopefully long term too.

Both Kansas and LSU did far better than I expected in the transfer portal. We need that type of new/experienced/proven talent infusion.

Why aren't we asking why with 15 on roster listed as LB, we had such poor results? Staff could not produce 3-5 SEC level starters?
