DeSantis wins in a landslide

maybe some it it was unnecessary. I’ll give you that. But not enough to warrant all the hate and name calling.
I think he has shown to be pro business which is what many cons prefer. Last night I listened to his victory speech and it was the first time I’d really heard him speak.
I think if he plays his cards right, and IF trump moves on, you’re looking at a contender.

 

After last night I don't think Trump is going to have a choice. Since Trump won't go voluntarily, I think the Republicans might decide that seeing him jailed is a good thing for them

 

Charlie wasn't a good candidate. But no good candidate wanted to run. Hard to say what the results from this election portend for Florida. But it doesn't seem good. Of course, you never know what happens moving forward. Republicans may overplay their hand in the next couple years (ex. full abortion ban) and end up with a very angry populace.

 

When I stated that I threw away my vote instead of voting for a party candidate that has questionable morals, ideology, and values; you interpreted that as “explain away Florida’s results”?

I wouldn’t vote for Charlie because I have ethics; a trait republicans lost a long time ago...

 

It's seems at this point FL is clearly marching to a different drum. Not fun as a Floridian, but if there has been a measurable shift in voting population maybe there is a net gain nationally?

A Democrat is not winning FL anytime soon. The massive amount of money it takes to campaign in this state can be better utilized in other swing states that have favorable environments.

 

A lot of transplants from Michigan and Ohio make FL redder, but if you look at Ohio it’s also getting redder. A lot of NY/NJ transplants along the east coast but those states aren’t any proportionally bluer either.

So the idea of FL turning into a sort of lepers colony where states are dumping their red voters doesn’t seem to hold up when you look at the math.

 

The Disney thing seems pretty anti-business to me, but mostly it bothers me because it is anti-speech. Sometimes I am sure it makes sense to side with consumers over producers. The end goal of society isn’t to have happy businesses but happy people.

I do think he’s a contender for president. I am not excited about that exactly, but then again, I am rarely excited about any viable candidate anymore. The one candidate I rather liked yesterday, TQ Nguyen, got 0.22% of the vote, so I’m not exactly in touch.

 

I don't think it's a simple divide, and we may need to see what the next presidential cycle looks like. But even after last night, the results in FL seem to tell a pretty different story than the rest of the country.

 

I think there is truth to that, but many of them have wanted to get rid of him for six years now. It's never worked. He has a deep connection with the substantial part of the base. They love him for all the reasons many voters are turned off. Thus the dilemma

Boomers have been driving the Trump movement, and something like 900 of them a day move to Florida. That's the math.

 

He's making his big splash with red meat issues, donning the armor of the social warrior. Fierce blowback should be expected.

 

Everyone knows about the Cubans, but I think a bunch of Florida transplants being right-wing Brazilians and Venezuelans makes FL unique (particularly when it comes to hispanic vote). All you have to do is look at the Bolsinaro vote from people living in Miami.

Guess they feel the need to destroy this country before they all die out.

 

Florida is so red that even if you "nuke" the Villages red would still win in a landslide - not to mention that the Liberal Bastion of Alachua Country would get decimated as well from the fallout. So it would be a push at best.
