Why would FL Dems sucking be a DeSantis issue? It's a good thing for him. The DeSantis "issues" are totally different things.

Why? The more he focuses on Florida the more you'll hate him. He's got this.. he knows what he's doing. Crist? Not so much.

why would you want a resident of a state to hate its governor?

    Nah…

Florida is just killing it. There is a reason DeSantis just laid the wood and crushed it in epic fashion tonight. And it has nothing to do with fascism. It has everything to do with leading and following the data. Protecting our kids and freedom. He is by far the best Governor of our time. And it is not even close.

You don't like anything about him, I've seen your posts before...

And you said that he focuses too much on "culture war issues," not me. As if those aren't Florida issues too? I assumed that you thought those were strictly national issues? Nope... Florida issues too.

Speaking of what a weird year it is, the Democratic Governor of Kansas just won reelection.

We at least won’t pass in “inflation reduction” acts that don’t do anything to fight inflation
“On net, and when viewed against the $24 trillion annual size of the U.S. economy, we doubt these fiscal policy changes will move the needle much on the inflation front, leaving the Federal Reserve as the main driver of inflation-fighting policy change," they wrote”
Inflation Reduction Act ‘will have no measurable impact on inflation,’ economists say

Man I was planning on moving to Florida when I retired, I may have to re-think that. Not sure I want to live among people that would re-elect that creep.

Have to disagree there. Charlie was a fine candidate. This is just where Florida is now. Can't explain it all but there's no denying it.

If I was younger, I think I would move out of state. But I'm too close to retirement and it would be too difficult

It’s understandable. As a Florida voter and liberal, even I could vote for Charlie. He is a Republican, always has been and always will be. So I voted for Gimenez to throw my vote away instead of voting for a primary candidate that doesn’t meet my ideology, morals, and values.

My hope is the Republican party sees what DeSantis has done and pushes trump out to the pasture and goes full steam behind DeSantis for 2024. But that won't happen. I'm begging for an indictment of trump at this point

I think you’re going to struggle trying to explain away the Florida results on “nobody likes Charlie Crist.”

All of the cabinet races ran pretty much the same margin, which is more or less expected. But if there were supposedly all these libs who vote but couldn’t bring themselves to fill in the Charlie bubble, you would presumably expect to see a materially tighter margin in some of the coattail contests. That didn’t happen.

And, by all indications, Val Demings is probably one of the best candidates the Florida Democrats could come up with right now: she outperformed Charlie by all of about a whopping 1%.

Florida is firmly Red right now for sure. IF Reps were smart they would learn from FL. But the key word is "IF". Some idiots in our country still think trump isn't an idiot.

If you are interested, my major issues with DeSantis involve the abuse of power (e.g. the Disney incident) and his pursuit of political theater (e.g. the Martha’s Vineyard incident).

I was pleasantly surprised with his first year or two, and then after that he turned into some kind of theatrical culture warrior. I don’t see him as a demon or anything, but I would still like us citizens to have higher standards.
