When exactly is the last time a Republican controlled house was fiscally sound?

Newsflash: The GOP isn't the fiscally sound party any more. Deficits explode under GOP control and come down under Dems. Also, they want to trash the full faith and credit of the country to kill Medicare and SS.

Ended up way off with this. Just hoping now Reps take the House barely and Laxalt holds on to maybe make a GA runoff for control of the Senate.

For clarity it’s not 13 seats it’s 6 over the majority.

I view this as a win for democracy and women's rights. Not sure which is the bigger factor, but either way it should be worrisome for the republican party. Any craziness over this election will just further cement the sentiment against that craziness. Trump on the ballot in '24 may do the same thing. Looks like they've lost what they had of the middle. It's just that persistent 32%.

Be prepared to get pounced on for that. Evidently there are zero issues with our education in the US.

Yep, two takeaways from this election (outside Florida) so far are:

    1) Trump-special candidates may very well have cost the GOP the Senate; and

    2) Is this the race where Dems finally learn to stop lighting their money on fire for Beto and Abrams, who seem to be very good at convincing national Dems to dedicate massive resources to their races but no good at actually winning those races?

Suddenly the GOP doesn’t like the guy they went home with so enthusiastically:

In Arizona, it was still early, with only about half of the expected vote in. But Kari Lake was running behind Katie Hobbs. Even if she comes back to win, it will be a closer race than political professionals of both parties had predicted had a more traditionalist Republican, Karrin Taylor Robson, made it through.

“I mean, come on,” said Chuck Coughlin, a veteran Republican strategist based in Phoenix. “This should be a walk in the park for Republicans ... If Karrin Taylor Robson was the [gubernatorial] nominee, it would be an ass-kicking this cycle. But we just have such poor candidates who don’t appeal to a broader base.”

The red wave that wasn’t: 5 takeaways from a disappointing night for the GOP

Which is being challenged in the courts. Only reason that map was voted in was to preserve the status quo of an illegal map.

He ran against Charley Crist. And Rubio ran against and African American candidate. This is Florida.

The country is repudiating Trumpism that threatens democracy. DeSantis and Rubio were not election deniers. The differences are stark. But, DeSantis’ map os an open issue and I expect new elections in Florida when the map is stricken.

Kari Lake is the only one left who has a chance, and hopefully Arizona had enough common sense to not elect that nut job governor. She’s completely crazy.
