BREAKING: Sources tell me the #USF job is Jon Gruden's if he wants it (1A) & a couple Bulls Boosters are ready to write the check now... FAMU HC Willie Simmons is 1B Bulls expected to put in a call to Scott Frost too if Gruden declines @953WDAE @JayAndZWDAE
Why wouldn’t you? Personally, I want him back in the booth. His commentary was hilarious. If they whiff can they hire Frank Caliendo impersonating Gruden?
Sorry if this is too tangential... Upon close reflection, I have decided to not become the President of the United States. I realize that there are numerous folks (even fractions of folks) who are disappointed by my decision, but PLEASE respect my choice. It is for my own good. Sorry.
What an off the wall choice, and no I don't think kids care about a super bowl ring won years before they were born. Frost makes sense.
I can't understand why Gerry Faust is never considered for these jobs. That is, if he's still alive. Plenty of experience, and he's a good disciplinarian. He won't tolerate players using cuss words and he would rather they not watch R-rated movies.
usf desperately needs that "splash" hire (I dislike that term but will use it) because of their past decade of being mired in a pit of crap, the need to raise money for the on campus football stadium, its image in the state of FL as the worst football program, and the need to hook up to a conference with some sustainability. They have been left in the starting gate by ucf and some other mid majors like SMU, Houston, Memphis, etc. They also need to fire up the fan base. Hiring a "name" like Frosty or Gruden goes much further than say one who may actually be a better hire in the long run, like Todd Monken, Hugh Freeze, etc. The "name" gets them 3 years of rebuilding the brand. As for Prime Time, I think he has bigger fish to fry and would likely wait for a bigger name school in a P5 with a bigger stage. Ideally, Prime should go somewhere like Ga Tech (Atlanta!) or UNC (Mack to sunset).
Can't see Gruden going to USF, Frost would be a bit more likely. The backlash from UCF would be hysterical!
