Republican gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin on Sunday blasted former President Bill Clinton for making light of his stand on crime during a rally for Gov. Kathy Hochul, saying the comments indicate how much the two Democrats “care about your life and safety.” Yesterday, @BillClinton and @KathyHochul were laughing and joking about recent subway crimes,” the Long Island congressman wrote on Twitter, sharing a video of Clinton speaking at the Saturday rally in Brooklyn. “This tells you everything you need to know about how little they care about your life and safety. The countless victims of rampant crime do not think it’s funny. We all deserve better,” said Zeldin, who has hammered Hochul on rising crime rates in their closely watched gubernatorial contest while climbing in recent polls. Libbies are fearless, studies show it every time, they are not interested in curbing crime. They are only interested in going after a random bad cop. We need more common sense and less libbies overseeing weak policies and prosecution. Zeldin blasts Clinton for joking about his anti-crime campaign
Right on point. Here is what was said: “Lee Zeldin, he makes it sound like Kathy Hochul gets up every morning, goes to the nearest subway stop, and hands out billy clubs and baseball bats and everybody gets on the subway. Doesn’t he?” the former president said smiling as the crowd chuckled. “They don’t care about keeping you safe,” Clinton said at the rally at Barnard College. “They want to keep you scared.”
I don’t know Bluke, from the article you linked, it seems like Clinton is mocking Zeldin’s characterization of the situation. It sounds to me just like how conservatives mock liberals for they way they characterize racism, and a headline “Republicans mock democrats for caring about black people in USA” probably wouldn’t be a fair one.
Hmmm. That’s fine, Clinton is definitely taking a stab at his political adversary. But that is a very insensitive thing to say and then chuckle about it, esp since crime is surging in NYC. Not sure how you can defend Clinton on this one. Pretty darn repugnant if you ask me. Since crime is seriously increasing in that city and dems history on defunding the police, it’s a real bad look.
So why are you always chasing clout by responding to my posts? You even contacted the mods on my thread to fix your mistake when you can directly message them.
That isnt what your headline or article suggests. There is a reason the quote was buried in the last paragraph. I knew since it spent so much time characterizing the quote before it showed the quote that this was a nothing burger.
I thought people were moving here because Florida was so wonderful, turns out they are moving here to do crime
