I agree with you that UF needs to be judicious about NIL! Someone needs to get a handle on it, because, right now what's going on is outrageous!!!

I think we are doing it right. We aren’t losing star players to the portal as of yet. If AR became a total stud and Bama bought him out from under us, I’d have a problem. I’ll take the db’s we have committed and take my chances . I don’t mind kids taking the big payout as that’s a no brainer but the way they handle themselves is just as important.

I suspect that once you land a near top five class, start to change the culture, start to win again, start to be relevant, the momentum will take care of it. These guys are way into recruiting. Even Andrew intonated, that we can effectively meet our goals without adding a couple of five star guys in this class. We don't need to have the number one class- but we do need to meet our goals. We can't whiff on positions of need, and right now that's more important.

We are not the completely sexy program just yet, but we sure and hell are getting there. The Gator logo's dull sheen is getting buffed out as we speak.

    Go Gators.

Seems to me UF's bigger problem is paying coaches $10-20 million to not coach anymore than paying players to actually play the game.

The headline of the article is somewhat absurd. That's like saying Merrill Lynch wants analysts who love the company as much as they love their salary (meaning that the salary will not be competitive). My 12-year-old may not completely appreciate the value of money, but she knows that making $20 for mowing the lawn is a lot better than making $2. I would expect most 18-year-olds to be a bit more worldly in the area of finance. UF may not have to outbid the other schools, but the cash absolutely needs to be competitive. Alabama allegedly pays $3 million a year in NIL deals, if you believe Nick Saban (I'm not sure I do). That is a tiny fraction of what SEC teams (including UF) get from the SEC TV contract. I would make absolutely sure that the top DL in the country get top dollar NIL deals. You can go a long way with great DT's and DE's. And schedule the deals so that their income increases if they stay at UF.

How does one usually get the best professional athletes? Pay them. Since there is no draft to better distribute talent you'll just see a version of the NFL where 5 or so teams can just buy all the top players.

Personally I'd rather us recruit players that want to be part of the school even if it doesn't get us top 5 classes. Nobody cares about my opinion though as I don't give money to pay for play schemes or donate 6 or 7 figured to the school.

Every offensive line In the country does that. What a lame call.
