From the head of the Wagner Group and by most accounts, the one best positioning himself to take over from Putin. Will MAGA say he is a libbie plant and still refute that Russia is influencing the elections with targeted propoganda in support of DT and other MAGA candidates likely to decrease aid to Ukraine?? All he left out was the source of the target data, ie the info DT and the team provided them before the last election. Russia's Prigozhin admits interfering in U.S. elections | Reuters Russian businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin said on Monday he had interfered in U.S. elections and would continue doing so in future, the first such admission from a figure implicated by Washington in efforts to influence American politics. In comments posted by the press service of his Concord catering firm on Russia's Facebook equivalent VKontakte, Prigozhin said: "We have interfered (in U.S. elections), we are interfering and we will continue to interfere. Carefully, accurately, surgically and in our own way, as we know how to do." The remark by the close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin was posted on the eve of the U.S. midterm elections in response to a request for comment from a Russian news site. "During our pinpoint operations, we will remove both kidneys and the liver at once," Prigozhin said. He did not elaborate on the cryptic comment. Prigozhin, who is often referred to as "Putin's chef" because his catering company operates Kremlin contracts, has been formally accused of sponsoring Russia-based "troll farms" that seek to influence U.S. politics.
he isn't all oligarchs, he is Putin's right-hand man and the likely next leader of Russia telling you that they have, and will continue, to spread propaganda to incite discourse and influence elections to favor politicians that will do their bidding. How to control a country without ever firing a shot.
When the GOP takes control as expected, it's going to be interesting to see how they break down on this and how much was just rhetoric. Marjorie Taylor Greene says Ukraine won't get more U.S. aid under GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) said Thursday that Ukraine will not receive any more funding if Republicans retake control of Congress in the upcoming midterm elections, per the Hill. Driving the news: "Under Republicans, not another penny will go to Ukraine," Greene said at a Trump rally in Iowa. "Our country comes first."
Of course any country that can meddles in our elections. &, the US is the king of election meddling. Good god, look at the destruction we've caused in our hemisphere. With the internet anyone anywhere can meddle in elections.
okay, then own it and let MAGA say they stand with Putin and his ilk. Quit pretending that they are not getting assistance from the Russians
I found this story essentially linking Russian meddling to Ukraine efforts pretty informative. The Untold Story of ‘Russiagate’ and the Road to War in Ukraine Basically started in 2016, in a meeting at Trump Tower between Manafort, a Trump campaign manager, and also a consultant in Ukraine for Russian interests, and another person who is considered a Russian operative. The goal was to implement a Putin plan to effectively control Eastern Ukraine. They figured Trump would be more accommodative to such efforts and as such started efforts behind the scenes to meddle and support Trump.
for what. Wagner Group president admits publicly that they have misinformation farms to influence the US elections. Are you claiming his public statement was released as a deflection for what purpose? Do you believe him? Which party do you think he wants to control our policies? After Years of Trump-Russia Denials, Putin’s Enforcer Admits Election Interference (msn.com) After adamantly denying interfering in the 2016 U.S. election that brought Donald Trump to power, a Kremlin insider has admitted that suspected Russian interference in American elections was real. “We have interfered, are interfering and will continue to interfere,” Yevgeny Prigozhin, a chief ally and favorite chef of Vladimir Putin said on Russian social media through his Concord Catering company on Monday. “Carefully, precisely, surgically and in our own way. During our pinpoint operations, we will remove both kidneys and the liver at once.” The remark, made on the eve one of the most important elections in recent history as American go to polls for midterm elections Tuesday, did not immediately garner comment from Democrats or Republicans. Prigozhin is the first Russian close to Putin to admit what the FBI has long suspected: that Russia interfered in U.S. elections. The Russian who orchestrates Putin’s private army—the Wagner group—did not specify which election the Russians have intervened in, but he is well aware that there has been intense focus, and several indictments, surrounding Russia’s alleged efforts in the election of Trump, when there was reason to believe that Kremlin wanted the former reality TV star to be victorious.
The issue is not so much that Russian tried to meddle, although I hate that. The problem is that we had a candidate willing to go along and a substantial group of voters that are still OK with it. I don't think that most of those voters are loyal to the Russian motherland per se. I think they are loyal to authoritarian whiteness. Putin just seemed to embody that concept at the time. He looks weaker now. A lot of the same types are now into Orban for the same reason. To be loyal to the United States means to be support and defend the Constitution. That is not what about 70 million US voters are now loyal to, at least if it leads to allowing opponents that prevailed in elections get to exercise power. Here is a quote I used in the Christian Nationalism thread, applicable here as well The other thing to remember is that nationalism is not patriotism. Patriots are loyal to the polity or collective society of which they are citizens. Nationalists care only about their ethnic, cultural, or national identity, which they take to be superior to all others, and which they wish to insert at the foundation of the civil society to which they happen to belong. In the case of the United States—perhaps the first republic in the modern world to be explicitly founded on universal ideals (however imperfectly applied), not merely national prejudices—this distinction between nationalism and patriotism makes all the difference. The political ideology of Christian nationalism, in direct contrast with America’s founding ideals, says that government derives its legitimacy not from consent of the governed but from fidelity to the particular heritage of a particular people. As Thomas Jefferson pointed out, the American constitutional system requires a “wall of separation” between church and state. But Christian nationalists have made it clear that they intend to tear down that wall.
Aww …exactly what we were aiming for. Christian Nationalism was the goal … I guess. The rant was cute though.
Pretty much this. Anyone who is surprised different nations attempt to interfere in democratic elections just doesn’t understand geopolitics.
I'm not sure people are necessarily surprised by anything Russia does but by the response to it. If China tries to help Biden or another Democrat in 2024, wouldn't you want Biden and other Democrats to at least acknowledge it and condemn it? Or would "we meddle, too, but maybe it was a fat guy in a basement somewhere" be enough?
Im not surprised by it. I am surprised, and disappointed, that so many refuse to acknowledge that it is happening, that the eventual POTUS agreed to help them, and that so many are willing to defend DT and the russians
I wouldn’t expect any of them to condemn it, regardless of party, because it’s been going on forever. Condemning it would do no good, because those countries can too easily point to examples in the past where the CIA meddled in elections of other nations.
So we should accept and embrace it? Are you okay with our "leaders" being obligated to Russia to ensure their continuing support? Are you okay with POTUS requesting Russia to help him get reelected? If this were the chinese helping to make sure Pelosi stayed speaker I suspect your tune would be different.
Prighozin is positioning himself to supplant Putin, one way or the other. He has his own military protectorate, and he has vast allies. I think it will happen sooner rather than later. And by all accounts, he is on-par with Putin’s ego and intelligence.
