Another attention seeker

 

I never understand how the polls put them in the top 20 every year and then after they beat the dead beats in the first two games of the year you get "the U is back"...oh and then they throw in the "baby" after it for some reason. As sure as the sun will rise tomorrow the wheels fall off...usually game 3 or 4 (if theyre lucky). Then they go down faster than a bum on a ham sandwich. From the 12 ranking and full of pride to 20...then to "others with votes"...then to their usual position of irrelevance. It never changes and every year like herpes they return and go from that preseason ranking to bottom dweller. Not sure why the pollsters fall for it every year.

 

The thing is they weren’t a bad team last year, and truthfully they wouldn’t of made a coaching change if they couldn’t have got Cristobal. They are terrible this year. The huge step back has to be concerning, and I don’t see how they get much better next year. They are in real danger of another 3-4 years of terrible and then are starting over again.

 

Miami is like Notre Dame, everyone remembers when they were basically NFL teams. No one follows them enough to realize they're not anymore.

Players go there to basically die. They keep having first-round draft picks, but have had one 10-win season in the past 18 years. You can say what you want about us failing over the past decade, but we have still had four 10-win seasons in 10 years.

 

Fans care more about 10 win seasons than players.

You said it yourself, they keep having 1st rd draft picks. So if school x is going to max out my NIL and I'm going to still have a good shot at 1st rd/2nd rd money in the NFL, but the trade off is 6-6/8-4 seasons. Compared to significantly less NIL but 10 win seasons at another school, I'm taking the money.

And that is what we are seeing with some of these recruits.
Real NFL money is made in your second contract, only the top 32 spots get paid well comparatively.

Trask was the 64th pick in the 2nd Rd and signed a 5.5 million/ 4 yr contract plus 1.4 million bonus.
HS players are being offered that now.

And thinking about it, how many players are really getting top dollar NIL deals? The top 100 in the country, top 50?
Is it really that big of a problem?
I think the reality is some 500 players around the country are getting decent deals. The top 50 are getting stupid money and the rest are getting pocket spending money.

 

regarding first round draft picks…Miami and Norte Dame has had 6 first round picks each in the last 15 drafts (the gators have had 10). Alabama has had 25. Still a big difference. NIL or no NiL.

So I watched mighty Miami choke and die with an extraordinary lack of effort, coaching or anything else, on Sunday.

That was just ugly.

Well, they can certainly preach plenty of PT to recruits, that's for sure.

While they may be slightly ahead of us recruiting, their on field product is very poor and seems to be getting worse.

I know many recruiting gurus say on the field does not count, but a recruit would be nuts to not consider where they are going and the position staffs.

UF hasn't exactly been peaches and cream but we have had NOTHING, like the quit and collapse demonstration the sucky canes just put on, this year.

 

At some point you have to figure Miami recruits showing up to grab the cash between late nights out on the town.

 

Weird thing I noticed first was all his games have been on turf this year. Come to the BIG 10 and play on carpet.
